The best hack I have found is one which has really helped my video calls.

Unfortunately I’m a glasses wearer and we’ve all seen plenty of people who wear glasses and all you see in their glasses is the reflection of their light ring from beside the screen and it is very off putting.

Well one day I set out to try and find a way of combating the problem and I did!

My light ring is way up above me on the shelf above my computer angled down and on my desk in front of me I’ve also got a small mirror flat on the desk.

Between the light from above and below my face is illuminated at all times and no dodgy reflections in the glasses!

Win!

For me, it was incremental:

  1. New chair
  2. Back massager
  3. Changing desk for an adjustable one - game changer!
  4. Mini-Stepper to exercise during listen only meetings
  5. New huge 32" 4K monitor to replace a dual screen setup
  6. Connecting the laptop to an iPad with a super long Anker USB-C to lighting cable and use the tablet as a 2nd screen with DuetDisplay to draw and navigate, while improving my presentation skills!

Here are a few cheap (and potentially free) hacks I used when I was working from home in my very tiny home office.

  1. If you have a personal computer in your work area (or a second monitor), you can use it to offset shadows when on a video call. Open a blank word document and reposition the monitor to add some fill lighting. Click on the design tab and then page color if you want to adjust the lighting color.
  2. Are you using a built-in laptop camera for video meetings? Don’t tilt your screen so people can see your face. Create a more natural camera angle by using items such as boxes, books, printer paper, etc. to raise your laptop off your worksurface (four to eight inches seems to work for most people).
  3. If you can’t afford, or don’t have room for a sit/stand workstation, get creative. Place an inverted laundry basket or storage bin on your desk (or table or counter) to create a standing work station.
  4. You can also do a lot with an adjustable height ironing board. Use it as the base for an adjustable height work station, or create additional desktop space that can quickly be put up and taken down if space is a premium.

Working in my home required tools that keep up with the speed of our daily lives. When I use my laptop for work it is nice knowing that Anker products help make working a lot easier!

Get dressed for your home office just like you would for a professional workplace,
don’t go through your day in pajamas.

Keep a schedule and make sure others respect it,
set specific times for virtual meetings and calls.

Take real breaks during the workday, don’t skip lunch!

Create and maintain a real workspace, don’t do your work from bed this one can be hard at times lol we all want to be lazy but we need to be serious.

Learn to use lists and workflow management software, use technology that will help you stay on task.

Don’t treat home like home, separate work from household chores.

Get some fresh air and, ideally, some exercise, squeeze in 30 minutes of exercise when you can. This is really important for me as I have type 2 diabetes and can’t be sedentary for long periods of time.

Make sure there’s plenty of light in your workspace, working in a bright space will help you feel energized.

Don’t spend all of your working time at home, you should occasionally try working from a coffee shop or library when possible and safe to do so, always stay protected wear a mask when required.

Avoid sugary-heavy drinks by replacing them with seltzer, flavored water and tea don’t get me wrong here, I love soda but because of my diabetes I drink seltzer.

Set a meal schedule for your work-from-home workday.
When you work from home, your day may be slightly less dictated by routine than when you’re in the office, and everyone takes lunch breaks around the same time, and even leaves for the day around the same time.

Take bathroom breaks very important.
and most important of all , have some Anker products on hand they can make a big difference in your work at home lifestyle.

That’s all for now I hope my hacks help.
Thank you for this amazing opportunity and good luck to everyone

When you WFH; you can shower on your break!

After working From Home on my Kitchen Table and gaining 30 pounds, I turned a spare room into an office! I don’t have a ethernet cable so I used a 2nd router setup in repeater mode in the “office” then an ethernet cable from the repeater to my laptop. Works great, and I’m now loosing weight!

My favorite hack has to be Apple SideCar. It is extremely useful. Instead of using an ipad, I use my LG Smart TV as a second display and I have hooked up an Apple Wireless Keyboard and Wireless Mouse with Beats Studio3 Wireless. This setup makes it so much easier to work.

Hi, I am new here, but I have certainly struggled with working from home during this pandemic.

I don’t have hacks, but I do have advice that has worked for me.

Have a routine, I find that I am more productive if I have a routine. It helps me keeps my days consistent.
Make a list of things you want to do that day, again to keep you productive.
100% agree with wearing work clothes
and also have a space that’s dedicated for work. I tried to work in the living room so I could also watch or listen to the TV…I ended up binging on Netflix.

Working from home with kids?

My hack is using smart colored LED bulbs, in groups, to indicate when your family should keep it down.

For example, I have 8 colored LED bulbs around the house that are in key spots (living room, master bedroom, toy room, garage, entryway, etc.). I set up a command, so when I say, “Alexa, open Meeting Soon”, all of those 8 bulbs turn YELLOWISH-GREEN.

Then, when the meeting starts, I say, “Alexa, open Start Meeting” and all those bulbs go RED.

When the meeting ends, I have a group called, “Meeting Over 1”, which resets those 8 bulbs back to their normal preferred brightness and white/yellow tone.

Finally, I have a group set up called, “Meeting Over 2”, which then turns off those 8 bulbs. This is so the next person that turns on any of those lights will get the normal color.

I personally have used the Sengled brand and use their iOS widget to make these actions work from buttons, rather than voice-assistant.

Ps. I’m looking forward to trying out Wyze’s new smart colored LED bulbs based on price and brighter lumens.

Here’s a screenshot of the Sengled widget buttons.
