Weekend activities! (old thread reanimated)

Because my old Lenovo 410S died and there is no chance to get it repaired easily,
(TFT-frame broken etc)
I ordered another one. (refurbished of course, a neandertalean model )
So I got my “new” laptop today.

Specs : Intel 2,5 GHz, 8GB, 128 SSD
That’s all I need.

Would be not so fit for Windoofs.
But LINUX?
Works perfectly as usual.
That’s the way to safe money and resources.
I am sure there are many others who would have done the same.
Or am I wrong?

Jolly good.

XFCE or GNOME?

I like Linux Mint mate.
I am used to since a long time.
I have tried XFCE, but you know me I am “aesthete” so I like that Mint more.
XFCE could fit for more elder equipment without a SSD and less RAM.
And of course only for those who are not afraid of “mice”

I have Xubuntu in VMs, run 2 concurrently, on top of Ubuntu, all in 12GB RAM.

Spring is coming.
Beside all this incredible disaster and war crimes in the Ukraina a small glimmer of hope.

Have been to the flea market today, (where else )
but no findings worth to be reported here.

What should I do?
Starting an extraordinary career at NHL or may be getting an extreme mountain climber?
I liked this old stuff, so I could not resist to buy these.

Do you know what will happen.
Rittberger, Toeloop and an Axel at last.
Then a big fall, 3 months in hospital and 1 year rehab.

Better using the crampons.
May be I will find him in the high mountains.

yeti

I am sure I can persuade him to take part here.

So take this thought: A winter wheel barrow crawl.

Put the hands in the skates and the other person wears the cleats.

Now the the biggest issue is who will be the wheelbarrow, you or your wife.

Flea market where else!

I bought them because i liked the design.
We had similar ones when children.

Such ones :

s-l300

But these are less elegant than the ones I bought on Saturday.

Sunny and warm here - > 20C in the afternoon, but in the nights still about 0C.

This night the stupid, useless change to summertime.
They wanted to cancel this nonsense, but they didn’t and they will not.

Typical EU : The more pointless rules and laws the better!

Meanwhile most of the clocks here in the house are radio controlled, so there is no work.
But the sleep and the brain is not radio controlled, so its not so good.

No more sun.
Snow!
Heavy snowfalls here last night.
All white.

Those poor blossoms.

Seems The birds need to be feeded again

No more breakfast and dinner in the garden as we did last week.

We still get gas from GAZprom, but I need to fire the tilestove.
Wood enough.

Wow, the weather has changed a lot in the last week.
It has here too Franz.
Sleet and hail with a little snow.
But the forecast looks warmer for the coming week.
I bought a few beers last night, so will post on the beer thread when i open them.

Have a great weekend all.

Bought some Schneider Weißbier this week.
Was an offer, what else.
Beer will getting more expensive in the near future.
Many here are hoarding cooking oil and flour.
Crazy, indeed.

I will not hoard beer, though I have a lot of pace to store!!!
Or should I?

Well I would say the Supercomputer doing the weather forecasting is getting pretty good, this last 2 weeks weather was accurately predicted, so I did go hiking in mountains when it was warm+dry.

I am getting ready for the next weather cycle and doing longer walks to toughen my feet up for some more mountain hiking.

I had broken my leg , before that break I could easily often do 16 mile walks, I am now finding around 14 miles has me tired next so I’m doing it often to fight myself back up to 16 miles.

While I am not expecting an Armageddon weeks of power outages, I am expecting frequent shorter outages - rolling blackouts - so been tweaking my kit, just bought a basic radio - I did have one decades ago but it got broken and not replaced. The older generation and/or those who do off-grid camping will know what to do easily.
