Weekend activities! (old thread reanimated)

Hey Franz.
Yes, the warm weather is quickly coming to an end.
This morning was 11⁰C, a little Warner now because we are in a pub :grinning:

Looking forward to seeing some photos of your purchases!

I’m walking a lot as I don’t like biking in rain. It’s passing heavy showers which benefits from a coat but it’s too warm. Walking with my tablet two thumbs typing.

Spring and summer is around the corner so I’m researching garden furniture which should hit lowest price next month.

You should take a look at such special websites we have here eg. “ebay Kleinanzeigen” (its not such a “den of robbers” like ebay,
No costs.
Many things for free and cheap.

I am sure you will find some used good garden furniture in good condition.
I got some useful things from there.
For example tar paper for my wood shelters,
Otherwise this would have gone to the garbage.
And I am often donating things this way.

Have you done the one chip challenge?

Yeah I’ve seen and experienced first hand how the smoke or fumes can make your throat to burn and eyes to water lol

I have not, but I do watch the show hot ones, where celebs take on increasingly hot (ter) wings as the host interviews the,… it’s quite funny.

What I often use is such a PiriPiri-Oil.
Only a few drops in the sauce is enough!

Such a small bottle (50ml) lasts for a year.

Those malaguetas are really a hot stuff for us.

It’s a reaction from a specific receptor which the brain then realises it should ignore as there’s more important things to process.

So build gently and often. Then do a Carolina reaper bet. Having trained for it.

Good advice. I do like spicy food but the Carolina reaper is on another level lol

This cat I got for a song.
The tail was glued and I made it much better now.
Not visible.
(There is a lot what can be done with nail lacquer )

It hangs on the wall now, its not so small (ca 20cm) and very decorative.
Designed by Walter Bosse in the 1950/60

If you take a look at Google you will find many more of such funny figurines.
Hes is well known, not only in Germany and Austria.

This is in news today.

I’ve visited SoCal many times, landing at Bob Hope airport, LAX, John Wayne Airport, San Diego.

I worked in the oil industry a decade ago and I can’t understand how such a large spill happened without someone not doing their job. A small leak would be detected and the damage limited. It’s not difficult, you have flow sensors dotted along the pipe and if there’s a different flow along the pipe then implies a leak and turn the pumps off while go out and investigate. They have the sensors in the pipes up near @TheSnarkyOne

I’ve known about the fact of global warming since the 80s, the thermoters and the sea level measurements made it an unarguable fact for now 40 years.

So I have deliberately lived near the sea since then to mitigate the worse of the heat of summer. The challenge is the amount of scientific knowledge required to calculate the least-worst place to live. Here in England the summer heat comes from south and east, the winter cold comes from north and east, so I have to place myself towards the northwest coast. Due to global warming increasing water vapour so heavier rain I cannot be in a steep valley, and I have to be at least 30 feet above sea level so my house doesn’t become un-sellable in my lifetime. I am about an hour’s bike ride from an actual beach.

I even checked for the tsunami risk, which is why not Ireland as the west coast there is exposed to multiple risks.

What a neat ornament Franz.
Looks in great condition.
