Weekend activities! (old thread reanimated)

Well I finished retaking an Einstein General Relativity course, I’d glossed over some of the maths last time.

I’m also retaking a particle physics course, as I’d let myself just get happy doing the equations.

My next decision is do I take a string theory course. On the one hand it’s the most promising theory of everything candidate but it’s currently either proved false (no super symmetry photon detected in LHC) or isn’t science as it’s unfalsifiable.

Decisions decisions.

In meantime I’m viewing houses for the next Geek home. I’m avoiding houses with farmland fields nextdoor as it seems they are covered with houses a few years later.

Charlies hot, time for a drink I think!

Table service only, no app, long wait for drinks as busy.
So when waiting staff bringing drinks to the table order the next to keep a steady flow.

Tricky, when the waitress brings you a glass you order the next one.
You are really an old sly fox Paul!
Prost Paul! And virtual hugs for Debbs and Charlie!

The waitress asked why im ordering another drink when I have only been given one.
I looked at her and said sarcastically “if I was an alcoholic I would have recovered in the time it takes for you to come and ask if I want another drink”
Well, I haven’t seen her since I’ve said that :smirk:

Debs and Charlie says Grrrrrrrr, I don’t know why?!?!?!

Today Anna and I cut a branch which was growing over the roof gutter.
I remembered we own a Telescope cutter for such work.
This can be extended upto two meters.
So it was easy to cut it, because we could do it from 1. floor.
She cached it with a rake and I cut it.
No ladder was needed.
I have such one 12 meters!

Our next project is to renovate the flower boxes from the 1. floor’s balcony.

Then I was helping my left hand neighbor to set up a little hut in his garden.

You all see : pensioners are busy!
Weather is good. -> 24C but sticky

Sounds like you and Anna are having some quality time together, thats great :+1:t2:

24c is good, only 17 here according to the weather, but it feels much hotter.
Tomorrow should be a scorcher at 26c, but I never belive the weather forecasters!

Never believe in weather forecasts and prognosis of election results!

I teach Anna many tinkering skills.
Today a video was published here in a magazine:
“How to change a bike wheel and to how to “glue”
(I dont know the expression) a bicycle tube.”
I was tought this by my father.
Great family work in the past, no “how to do” videos. :grinning:
So much better!

I think it would be “repair” an inner tube :+1:t2:

My dad was the same, very practical, so I grew up the same. :+1:t2:

I know Charlie will learn all this from you.
And I know we were talking about that in the past.
He has also to learn how to cook and bake.
(I remember he did)
That’s so great!

Yes Franz.
It’s a parents duty to pass as much down to the children as possible.

Charlie does basic cooking as you know. This was his last creation, it always seems to be chocolate based.

He loves the chocolate brownie and chocolate cake, I can’t get him to cook anything else

The pubs with apps win.

Know a table number, order ahead two sets of drinks.

Arrive.

If you can’t sit at that table then sit in sight and as your order arrive “sorry made an error”

Solution is no waiting.

I set up the website for my local. Table 61.

I dont know much about Whisky.
From time to time I drink a “Schnaps” after a meal.
In Portugal I prefer the very simple common one
which is called “bagaço” or “aquardente”.
Its a grape marc spirit. In Italy its called “grappa”.
In Brasil "cachaça, but this is made from “cana” (cane)

Here in southern part of Germany the people like “Obstler”
Different types, cherry, plum, pear but not apple.
The people from the North drink mostly “Korn” made from grain.
A small beer and a “Korn” is usual in the pubs.

Here in Bavaria we drink beer not accompanied by a Schnaps.
Better!

There is a great softdrink in Brasil :

Cachaça, a little bit of cane sugar, juice from sweet limes and crushes ice :
Called Caipirinha.

You want something to eat?:

The meat balls are called Köfte (Turkish recipe)
The rice is topped with Ajvar (Yugoslavian very hot sauce)
You all see :
Not only “Schweinsbraten mit Knödel” here.
