Hello, I’m looking into purchasing an Anker Charger. In researching, PCMagazine said the best for an iPhone was the Anker 60W, four port. Which port would be used for an iPad 7th Generation and would it speed the charging up!?! It’s takes hours for my iPad to charge with the 12W wall charger that was included in the box.
Wall/Desk Chargers
What’s the max wattage your ipad can take?
May be you can try this one 5 Port 60W Anker Desktop Charger

This powers the iPad as well!
Hey,
Thank you so much for responding!! Well the wall charger that came with it says 12W. How would I find out the max the iPad can actually take?!?
Shenoy,
The 60W/5port is the one I’m thinking of getting it. Now what confuses me is what would the first port be used for!?!?. Appearance shows it’s smaller than the others. As I said, all my devices are Apple.
With the 65W, same thing. What is the smaller port used for!?! I will definitely have to switch to Anker Powerline II USB C to Lightening cords.
@mzlegz The smaller port on both the charger is the USB-C PD port capable of providing 30W and 45W respectively in the order mentioned above.
USB-C is the modern port, you may use USB-C to Lightning for charging your iPad or use the regular USB-A ports.
Hope this helps!
Hi @mzlegz
I was in the same boat as you, trying to decide amongst a couple of chargers.
I settled on the powerport atom III Slim, with the GA core. The second one that @Shenoy mentioned.
I have an iPhone SE And an iPad too, and expect the charger to arrive on Monday.
I can do a quick check on charging times and get back to you perhaps as early as Tuesday night. I know the smaller USB c spot should charge fast, providing you have a USB c to lightning cable. I do, and charging at work from laptop, my se charges to full in about 2 hrs.
Also, amazon had a great deal for me (I’m in Canada).
If you can wait til tues, let me know and I’ll work to get some more info for you.
The PowerPort Atom III Slim should charge the 7th Gen iPad in 2 hr or under…
Hi TSO,
Sure, I definitely can wait. I think too my issue may be the iPad I have as well (7th Gen). It’s not listed as compatible with the Anker Powerline II USB C to Lightening cords that I intend to get, other iPads are though. This is my second one, sent the first one back when I first got it because I thought there was a problem with ITV charging. This one (iPad) takes up to/over fiver hours as well!!! The photo is my current usb cord for Apple, only lightening. Obviously the ends are very different.
WOW!!! Which port would I use Shenoy!?!
Use the USB-C PORT on PowerPort Atom III along with a USB-C to Lightning Cable
Hello Shenoy,
Thanks so much for helping me out!!!. I intend on purchasing the Anker Powerline II USB C to Lightening cords, at the least the two pack for my iPhone and iPad. Those cords will be ok!?!
Yes, this cable should work well and help charger better than from the Apple default chargers, but do note that the 7th Gen iPad do not support fast charging.
To my knowledge Apple IOS devices with USB-C power ports cannot take more than 18-watts off a PD or Power Delivery charging port. However, if the charger you use is multi port, make sure that its rated for a combined output power sufficient for all the devices you want to charge simultaneously.
I use the Anker Power Port Strip 2 Mini. This proves up to 30W on the USB-C PD port which is plenty for the iPad, and also provides up to 18W on each of the USB-A ports for devices that can request the higher power. Be sure to use a quality PD rated cable to get the full power.
Apple makes USB-C input products go higher than 18W.
Owner has to be detailed explicity model to know if 18W, 30W or higher.
iPad pro can take 30W
I own an iPad Pro 11" and use Anker 30W chargers. Specifically these below…

Hi @mzlegz,
Unfortunately, the regular iPad 7th generation is not listed as one of the devices that supports fast charging. While Anker’s wall chargers will work with your iPad, they likely won’t be much faster than the charger that came in the box with the iPad.
Hi,
I’ve received the charger, and am just doing a rundown on the iPad battery. I’ll be able to setup charging after work today and will post up some screen shots as well as how it works out.
If I am lucky enough (in planning) I should have my phone set to go on the charger as well.
Plan is to put the iPad on the usc c with a fast charge cable and the iPhone on a USB b port.
This is going to be fun
Hello,
Thank You TW, I do believe that’s the case. I will go ahead and get an Anker Wal charger because I think it definitely will work better with the Anker usb cords. If the iPhone and iPad both have the same type charging ins, can they be charged in USB A and C!?! The smaller port appears to be smaller.
Nice gang you got there lol
