Wall/Desk Chargers

Hey @mzlegz

So I got the powerport atom III slim all setup, iPhone se plugged to the USB c fast charge at 15% and iPad plugged into USB b port. Total of 3 USB b and 1 USB c ports, so it will fit well in my household for all of our devices.

iPhone charged to 98% within 2 hrs and iPad was at 86% in 3 hrs.

Form factor of this little guys is amazingly small. Slight bit of heat but didn’t feel need to get out the marshmallows… some photos below. I’d says its a good one, esp if you can find a deal on it like I had.

I’ll look to put a review up soon after some more complete testing.

whats’s in the box

Genuine question.

Wouldn’t this be a better fit as it’s more shifted to a faster USB-C port?

You get similar total Wattage but you can do 18+30W / 45W vs what you have now of one 45W

Yes, you can either use the smaller USB-C port or the full-sized USB-A port for either device. If your iPhone is an iPhone 8 or newer, it can take advantage of fast charging on the USB-C port.

Good point. Suppose it would depend on market availability. The first one you have shown is which one?

I agree , as now you’d have 2 ports of each

So the original one is this

The issue (for me, and I suspect many) is we don’t have a need for only 1 45W port and 3 ports sharing 20W. Our USB-A total Watt need is lower, less than 20W, but our USB-C needs are higher, in my case 36W ideally, but 45W is near enough.

So this successor is a better match (for me, suspect many)

I don’t own a device > 18W USB-C yet, but if I did I’d probably quite like to then either decide to use 45W to charge the laptop, and plug my phone in the USB-A to get at least 10W to it, or to plug in laptop in 45W to get it 30W and phone in 18W to give it 18W. I’d then have my choice of 45+10 = 55, or 18+30 = 48, and I’d choose based on my other needs at the time.

My cables would be a 6ft C-C, a 3ft C-C, a 3ft 3-in-1 and a short MicroB, then I can charge my phone, tablet, Powercore and earbuds to get 63W. My phone can’t take more than 10W so its tablet 18W + Powercore 18W + phone 10W + buds (2W guess) to get to 50W or so ingest.

Even better would be 3 USB-C ports sharing intelligently their power, and 1 USB-A for legacy. Waiting for that but the 63W version is a good enough for me to figure out best use. I don’t need 63W personally yet but probably my next laptop would benefit from this.

Shame they are so close in looks and all. Checked here @ .ca and only have currently available the 3/1 . For what we have, should be okay (no laptops to plug in)

I currently own all of these:

  • Powerport 5 with 1 PD. For free from Anker years ago.

This is my living room by sofa, I use the PD port for my 18W tablet / Powercore (whichever has greatest need) C-C 6ft, a A-C 6ft for phone, a 3-in-1 3ft, 3ft A-C and my smartwach magnetic charger. I’ve got a broken leg and use a LC90 as my evening room light and then plug it to recharge.

  • Dual 18W

I tend to use this when with tablet + Powercore each is 18W input

  • Dual 18W+12W

Good for phone + Powercore.

  • Dual 30W+18W Free from Anker

This is good for my tablet + iphone situation. If Anker had the DC cable I could use it for someone’s laptop+phone.

  • Nano 18W. Got free from Anker then bought 2 more myself. No longer available, the 20W successor just came out and not discounted.

  • Dual A 12W - good for many legacy needs. A common travel situation is this plus the Nano or one of the dual to to get to 3 or 4 ports total.
  • 10 ports

This tends to get used for all needs, lot of MicroB cables for flashlights, earbuds, etc, I have some long A-C cables for slower but still useful Type C charging needs.

I’m going with the PowerPort Atom III. I may not get results I want for my iPad but I rather have that smaller, convenient wall charger than an multiple outlet with different devices plugged in; as well as the cords.:weary:. I was out today and it charging on a ATT car charger and usb cord. It showed green/charging the entire time I was riding and wasn’t charging JACK!!!:face_with_symbols_over_mouth:.
