Based on delays with announcements I would give them more time. The admins workload has increased more recently which is impacting on responses and the like.
PowerDraw Winner Anouncement (Weekly updates)
That’s exactly what I thought was happening! Thanks!
You’re really a “hands on” Official…and that’s uber kool!
I see the last draw was back in August.
I’m guessing that this has been phased out from the community? What do we do with all our existing power bucks?
Don’t believe it has been phased out, the admins just seem to be tied up with other things…
Ah ok
Once I checked my balance it started burning a hole in my electronic wallet lol
This is the big question here.
Lets see if there is a next powerdraw.
We all know “hope dies at last”.
My theory is that they have been too busy with things and/or lost an admin that did work on the community more than the others. Since that time, they have did like 3 Powerdraw since last November. (November, February and August). The last inside testing was October something and nothing since.
If I had to guess, they may do something here soon as it is coming upon the community anniversary.
When they cranked up the Soundcore community was exactly when this become quieter so if I join up those dots it’s just total budget same and it moved.
But they made the Soundcore community more about music, which many don’t care for, keep off-topic banter to a minimum, squish debate on upcoming products and leaderboard means top half of screen is basically full of things most people are not interested.
Net outcome is less interest in total overall.
If they do bring Powerdraw back, the many sitting on many PBs will cause a high bid so low chances for quite a period.
What is really boring is just cut&paste “news” from the “music scene”.
Eg. The" singer XYZ" has published a new album.
Those kind of “news” are unnecessary.
There are many who don’t care about this “singer XYZ”.
For some members its only point farming to get free stuff .
Indeed, but I don’t blame those doing the point farming as if they didn’t then someone else would. They just need to end the Leaderboard and redeploy their budget in other places. It’s only obvious major flaw in their current setup, they already do plenty of fun stuff.
We were discussing to alter the “leaderboard”.
No chance, the like it and get stuck.
I fully expect those who win from the leaderboard to be vocal in its support. So it’s really up to the admin to decide.
While the ToS stops talking about future products, those who care to look into the future see plenty of “things to talk about” coming which won’t be helped by the leaderboard crowding out other topics.
Eufy security started their community soon after in March. Although I feel that one was more rushed in their development. Their menu is awful…
Up until Novermber they had regular powerdraws. Unsure that the budget is as much of an issue. At times I thought they quit part of it to make up for some of the bigger prizes they gave out but really unsure if it is totally the budget or a lack of personnel.
Just as a point of disagreement here - I managed to be on top of the leaderboard at Soundcore somewhat regularly for a while before I stepped back. And I started several extended discussions about the problems with their incentive system, vocally pushing for a variety of changes including eliminating the “winner takes all” leaderboard.
I’m sure the admins saw it, and even commented on a side point or two, but the changes they made were minor point tweaks and not real improvements to the incentive structure. I eventually gave up and decided to limit my activity on all of the forums. Still stopping by occasionally (obviously), but not worth spending as much time on.
Yeah off topic was not the issue as we all know. They basically tried to take out the symptoms that the problem. (Gallery and off topic).
I do try to so often to provide info on the leaderboard and changes to the admins . My last was an issue I found that they will have to be taken care of as it is a decent glitch. ( as a software tester for a specific program, I have a hard time turning that off)
As stated I do not blame the points farming either. I think in hindsight they should have a rule that you can win once ever six months (give or take).
If it was me and they did not to have to change the pages too much, I would make the leaderboard just for the same amount of tickets. Agree with a thread for a contest and then they could even just promote it to their social media accounts to comment on the community to win or if they wanted just community members then just a thread to win.
I have tried a hand few times and really do not like it. As a married man and dealing with life, I just get too busy to keep the points created daily. It just takes up too much time after a bit and things get spread out.
With that said, I will try for the photo contest and thread contest at sometimes. It is partly to get the extra notes, partly do it for the fun of it and then the other part is to present obstacles for the people who are trying as well.
If you think about if they are the only ones playing then they are winning the items at the end and have most likely won the weekly notes as well. So it is a win-win for them.
Maybe Anker is planning to do a big giveaway. Maybe something similar to the 100 giveaway thing Soundcore did last year.
What is really boring is just cut&paste “news” from the “music scene”.
I see this as people just padding their points. I could go to Reddit on r/music and copy paste anything in there 3 times a day and rack them up, but like you said, it is boring to see it.
I was thinking along similar lines. Some way that someone recently won is not allowed to win for a while. They can still be highly engaged but not have month after month of the same folks in top 4-5.
I am also thinking not just a specific community, but lessons learned for future communties yet to exist where I may be a moderator or influencing the setup. I have been online and hosting, running, owning and participating in forums now for 30 years, every artificial incentive lowers total value.
That is perfectly fine no downsides, as it is either in 1 thread or is seeking to be as interesting as possible. Both healthy positive engagement.
I think part of the issue here is that the community just isn’t as active as Anker had hoped. There are a lot of people that join to ask about a product and leave when they get the support they need, but those threads don’t really foster discussion. In fact, most of the discussion seems to be concentrated on a few threads that have been going for quite a while.
In that context, it’s hard to get enough points to do anything worthwhile in a timely manner unless you resort to farming techniques.
