How should the Cameras/Homebase function during a power outage?

Over the weekend a wind storm knocked out my power for most of the day on Sunday. With it, the switch that my Homebase was connected to and my Internet connection were down. However, the Homebase ran on its internal battery for most of the day. While I wasn’t expecting to get alerted about events that my cameras were recording, I still expected them to record events and store them on the Homebase for me to review when power and my Internet connection were stored, at least for as long as the battery on my Homebase would support. I was surprised when power came back on and everything booted up to find there were no events from that day, in spite of the fact that we had spent a good part of the day outside and in range of what the cameras would normally pick up. I’m certain that during this time my Homebase was running on battery power because it was still on when we came back inside. Is this expected? Should the cameras have recorded events while the Homebase was running on battery power while the internet was down?

Thanks,

Matt

There’s another thread about this this very thing and the consensus among owners is inline with your expectations. Comments from Anker/eufy so far, however, somehow seem to disagree. Still waiting for a response from them that positively matches their commitments about this from the Kickstarter.

wow didnt know this. whats point of battery backup on base if it doesnt do anything

+1 @AnkerOfficial may know this issue from other users.Battery backup is also a selling point. I agree that without internet it will not send notifications but if the videos are stored that is useful for having battery in the homebase.
I have not tested it myself, will take some time today to test and will report back.

I configured a rule on my firewall to prevent the Homebase from reaching the Internet and sure enough it didn’t record any videos until the Internet was restored. I’ll contact support and let them know about this issue.

Thanks,

Matt

Great! let us know what support has to say

This issue was due to a bug we had found. The recorded video was on the SD card, but was not syncing with our app. This is fixed in our next update, which should be pushed to your cams within the next couple of days.

Have you released the release notes for version 1.0.7.9?

We have not released notes yet, but the majority of the updates were for this bugfix and stability optimizations.

Thanks, :smirk:

I had a 3 hour power outage 2 days ago, and when power came back I recieved a bunch of notifications, but the video recordings never showed up in the app. It appears that this issue still persist, at least for me. :frowning:

The videos usually take a bit of time to show up in the app after being reconnected! Check again in a couple of hours.

It’s been 4 days and the videos haven’t showed up yet. I got a ton of notifications when the power came back, so I know there are recordings, but I can’t view them.
