The follow-up Wifi version, in the UK, is on my list of things to get.

I’d like to do remote unlocking and remote PIN code change, etc.

For example right now it takes me a long time to get to the front door as I’m on crutches, a post man could easily give up waiting.

So the Wifi Doorbell camera, App, talk to postman, Wifi lock, unlock door, open, drops package, closes door, lock. That’s the combination to get right.

As far you havent cut your fingertip it could work,
But I NEVER would fully trust.
(battery-, network- etc failure.)

I hide a second “real” key somewhere.
Hope I will not forget the place were I placed it! :joy:

That was a concern but @Tank helped confirm, there is a physical non-electronic key lock, you get 5 sets so you can hide one away for the situation technology fails.

I’d still like remote control, this version you interact with it purely locally, proximate.

A smart doorbell with camera to see, and a smart lock to control, combined, as a bundle, would be a kit Eufy should make. It is just an obvious solution, I’d not really want to buy this lock as is and regret it as you largely only want one lock.

But does this work if the battery is dead?
If so, I would like to understand how.

Yes, if the battery is completely dead, your smart lock goes dumb and acts like traditional dead bolt. Just unlock with a physical key included (as you do with traditional door lock)
I have Schlage Sense, I can unlock using app remotely, via bluetooth, Homekit, passcode on the lock pad and finally with a physical key. Only thing missing is the touch id and I don’t trust NFC so no regrets

If the battery dies all you have to do is slide the round cover off and insert the physical key to unlock the door

Thanks my friends, old Neanderthalian is always learning here.
So You have to hide such one of the old styled keys!

I am thinking about, shall I really change my lock I am using now

first to such one ?

schlos

(By the way I have seen those kind of simple wooden locks at Corvo Island, those do exist)
What a wonderful secure life there.
( ca. 400 inhabitants one tiny village on this little island)

To look at this photo makes me sad.
No vacations this year!

I really like this lock. Not sure if I can get away with it being in a townhouse but I can ask the office. Can you key the lock to existing keys you have?

Too bad I already got a smart lock, but this looks promising

No, unfortunately it uses its own security style key in the shape of a half circle, with the center being the key cut

Of course the key which is used normally can not be used unlocking that device.

One more key one more to lose.
But when I look at my “caretaker” key ring one more really doesn’t matter.
Were many more when I was working.
Worst case : no more battery life and key lost!.

I usually give keys to my neighbors to keep.

Leaving a key with neighbours has many benefits.

If you’re unresponsive to phone calls they can let themselves in. If there’s a building fire and power out.

We have a very trustful and fantastic neighborhood here.
All deep friends and we are helping each other whenever these is a need.
They never would do something wrong!
I have their keys as well!
I am the “chefe” here receiving parcels and all other things when they are out.
We always know if someone is on vacations.

Not normal in the city, I know.

I have that with my block which is strange because not many people near me seem to have this connection with their neighbors
