Beer Club Thread

There are many more parameters, not only alcohol.
e.g. “IBU” and “Stammwürze” (original gravity)

Unfortunately you will not find those on the bottles.
Some micro breweries do.

I came in touch with IPA last year.
I got one brewed with so called aromatic hops.
“double hoped” was it called.
(This special hop came back from USA …GREAT)
Good taste.

Here are the IBU’s for German beer

IPAs are the most popular beer style in America right now. The best IPA in the world is brewed in Helena  Blackfoot River Brewing Single Malt IPA

Our Single malt I.P.A. is brewed from 100% Crisp Maris Otter No19 barley – no specialty malts, no blending. Single Malt is generously hopped with Northwest-grown hops including Simcoe, Citra, Centennial and Cascade. This amazing malt gives it a golden color, with a medium-bodied and the hops add a nice citrus, tropical, with a full hop flavor.

  • First Brewed in 2000
  • IBUs: 55
  • ABV: 6.9%
  • Original Gravity: 1.065
  • Terminal Gravity: 1.012
  • Calories / 12oz: 214

Much nicer than the typical “West Coast IPA” which is excessively bitter (IBU around 100), this one allows the flavor of the hop to shine forth.

@Chiquinho Caution! Those “double hopped” IPAs can be very strong. I have had perhaps 20 different of this variety. They are tasty but not for prolonged drinking

I know, those are strong.
But I like the flavour because those aromatic hops are used.
I told you of the Bockbier.
Normally brewed in spring.

Breweries were run by monks in the past often.
Fasting period in spring for them.
But this was not including beer. So they made a stronger one.

This “Bockbier” has to be treated very ,very careful.
Tastes great, but :
First one, second one… ohohoh!

This is a famous one

Did someone say beer!!!
Been a hot minute since I’ve been on this forum, still buying Anker stuff but been too busy.

I was beside myself when l heard Corona took a price drop when Coronavirus kicked off :man_shrugging:t3:

Hey @namroc22
What’s the deal with the plastic covers on the top of the can?

They are can and sold in 4 packs, that’s what hold them together @paulstevenewing

I get it, so simple
Here in the uk there are normally thin plastic rings around each can which are linked.

The 4 caps is technically more reliable.

How many times do you pick one of these up and one can falls out? I never had it happen with the other approach.

That’s better than those above.
The others I would not buy : waste of plastics.

But I would not buy any kind of tins.
Best are crates with 20 bottle a 1/2L.

bier

Best Bier, glass bottles,.
Crate and bottles returnable.
Deposit for crate and the bottles 3,10 Euro.
Only crown caps are garbage.

Tins have a deposit of 0,25 Euro.
So the “bottle seekers” like them!
Normal glass beer bottle is only 0.8 Euro
So tins are a real treasure for them!

I like glass bottles but they are often only 330ml.
It takes more space in the fridge to get the same quantity using bottles over cans.

Technically a better solution but I’ve never struggled with the thinner ones.
And the thinner ones are made from less plastic.
I tend not to reply on packaging of that kind, always holding the product not the packing.
I also never lift a cardboard box using the finger cut outs and always hold underneath in case the tape has not stuck well.
Debs thinks I’m weird :man_shrugging:t3:
I think I’m sensible :+1:t2:

Paul we write reviews how to handle packages and crates.
And we will create an “unboxing video”.
Big contest!
open for US, UK and DE only

Bottle or plastic?? None of the above, better off the tap

Would like to taste those all.
Would take some time.
The only one I would nit test is that Berliner Weisse.
He should go for a bavarian Weißbier.
He knows how to brew I am sure.
Same way of brewing.
