Beer Club Thread

Anecdotally, beer seems to give:

  • strength, I never can’t do something
  • energy, I don’t get tired
  • willpower, I just do it

What beer seems to not give:

  • perfect instant healing. I get skin sores in the places rubbing, like today my right heel skin
  • while not tired when you sit down, sit too long and it’s a bigger effort to stand up, but fortunately the wince and ouch sound masks it perfectly. Answer? Never sit down!

Scafell.

It’s only by pushing limits do we know what they are. I know I can do another day of effort, then must take a rest day. Tomorrow’s photos will be good.

It was the third picture that made me think it was Mt Snowdon.
I recall seeing a lake like that when we walked up it a few years back.

Hmm maybe I should have a beer before a hike, you know for strength

Not deliberately doing duplicate photos it’s how it’s showing when I select many photos and mass upload. I’ll tidy it up later.

Did you bike up there? That looks like a fun ride

Yes, it’s not hardest to bike, not that high nor steep. Look up Wrynose Pass or Hardknott Pass, harder than Kirkstone Pass

Not my video but shows the climb I did, when you watch it, explains why I kept luggage to minimum and why my Anker tech decisions.

On a famous train track now but rain so pictures bad. I’ll see if any decent later.

Was gifted some stuff today.
My left handed neighbour who is always around here brought me some beer to test.

Translation can be done by the well known tools.

PROST!

May be I should take my Canon with me.
But …
So there is only a “PROSIT” from my “neanderthalen” home office.
Listening to my comrade Franz now!
Who is it?
Born in Vienna and died there so early.

Schubert?

Listen to

take a rest, another beer and relax!

Not far only about 40 miles. Sitting in warm sun, enjoy the last warm long shadow days of summer!

For winter I have a big down coat which squishes small and I have room, I reckon, in my bag, so hoping can keep moving through winter.

40 miles is still a great distance @professor
Yes, these warm days have to be taken advantage of!
Hot start to next week apparently!
I’ve always been tempted, but never owned a down coat. Maybe ill find one in the Spring ready for next winter.
Do you have real or synthetic down?
And was there a deciding factor to go for the option you took?

So my clothing is up to 14 years old and bought on the “buy cheap buy twice” principal. I’ve extensively travelled through varied climates and so over time accumulated good kit which either you can’t buy now or if you did you’d pay triple what I paid.

So this is my most warm down coat, I paid £70 for it 9 years ago.

Of today’s you-can-buy kit, I’d take a world view of:

  • buy the best
  • use it sparingly in the worst conditions benefiting from
  • clean it properly
  • ignore the price
  • you’ll not regret it when it’s significantly higher cost later.

In this case I washed it last summer in a very large washer and dried it in a very large tumble drier with a tennis ball in to fluff up the down, and it looks like new.

In UK I’d subscribe here and wait for bargain bucket

https://www.phdesigns.co.uk/

They do sales twice a year. When it gets to October I’m packing this

I paid £150 for it £8 years ago

I don’t want to advertise non-Anker products in this forum, PM me for specific current UK advice. I’m not going to be a flagged spam post.

Well thanks for the info @professor
Thats pointed me in the right direction.
I had read aftercare is important with down, that may have been whats held me back.
As usual i will research, research, research and wait for sensible discounts.

There are really perfect outdoor clothes on the market.
But not easy to find out what is the best for your use.
In the old days when I was biking to the university there was not much.
At the end of the struggle in the winter I had to change clothes and my secretary Marianne offered me a hot and delicious coffee. So she always saved me.
