A lonesome "Kraut"?

Might I ask you a question my friends?
Am I the only “Kraut” here?
I know I might be one of the eldest here (68) but I love this forum.
By this way I really learned a lot meanwhile!

Thank you all!

I doubt it. I remember in the “Love My City” event or whatever, there were a couple people who submitted German cities like Berlin and Munich.

No, even if I didn’t know that you would say Kraut to people from Germany. I’m from Germany and as far as I know is @pauldey from Germany too.

What is more, exiting to me is your English. Many Germans don’t speak English well or they are just able to speak it.

I’m a student and do an exchange year in the US. They use to call us Germans instead of Kraut.

:confused::confused::confounded: WHAT?

@pauldey I think is in Germany and may be German?

So if you are going to insult the great German nation with the word “Kraut” then I am Pom and @bobbleheaderman is a Canuck and many here are Yanks, @Oggyboy is a Taff, I think @Arwen is a Jock.

Many English don’t either

I think the OP is German, and in an attempt at humour, called HIMSELF. A Kraut.

I was surprised, as you, as I was brought up, that it was an insulting term and not to be used.

However, if someone wishes in humour to call themselves it, its fine. I’m inbred (where I spent the longest part of childhood was often referred to) taffy, Mick, paddy .

But, if.you want a reply, best to call me, Mac!

Kraut, Iwan,Tommy, Yank, Limey, Gringo…
There are many idioms.

Those names have often their origin from WWI and WWII.
I use those always for fun,
so I don’t want insult anybody!

If using the nicknames : You are a Tommy or a Limey.

Ain’t that the truth, depending on region or just age

No I think I’m a pleb. Or I may be a plonker, wally, pratt, moron?

I visited Germany many times, most usually Munich, but beautiful Heidelberg sticks most in my mind.

Taffy is Welsh. I thought Paddy was Irish?

We were not allowed to use the term in our house growing up either
