As many countries come out of their peak Covid-19 infections and seek to strike a balance of freedom, monitoring and control, it is clear that many Governments are thinking of using cellphones as a weapon in track, alert and trace.
The issue is all of this will drain the phone battery.
The two competing methods rely on either centralised control or decentralised bluetooth. Both drain phone batteries.
While I can foresee this will be legally be optional, I can also foresee places where “manager discretion” will simply make it mandatory, e.g. pubs, restaurants.
So you’ll have your recent Covid-19 free certificate, and you have your app on your phone showing you did not get close to someone who is infected, so you are allowed in (to office, building, the pub, the restaurant).
So would not everyone have basically needed to increased their access to phone power? Wireless, portable chargers, chargers?
