Why does PowerCore20000 3.0 have two different USB ports?

I looked online at the manual, have searched several different QA’s and can’t find anything about the two different USB ports on my PowerCore 20000 with Quick Charge 3.0. One USB port is green with a charging symbol in a circle. The other is gray and has IQ above it.

I have a Motorola G7 Power, iPad, and MacBook Pro and I’m not sure which USB port to use with which device or even if it makes any difference.

Would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who knows the answer.

Thanks!

Hi @lorinjasmine, do you already have PowerCore 20000 QC? If not, there are much better options available that I would recommend before PowerCore 20000 QC. In fact, if you already have it, I would even consider a return. Just let me know and I’ll suggest a few.

Anyway, the green port is the only port with Qualcomm Quick Charge support. The gray one does not support Qualcomm Quick Charge. For your devices, you would be best off using the gray port for your iPad and the green port for your Motorola G7 Power. Your MacBook Pro probably won’t charge consistently from either port, at least while powered on.

The Green USB port supports Quick Charge 3.0; the other port has IQ above it is a standard port that does not support Quick Charge. To charge your QC devices, like you Motorola G7, please use the Green port. To charge non-QC devices, both ports work the same. But it is not powerful enough for a MacBook Pro. If your MacBook Pro is USB-C Power Delivery supported, we recommend PowerCore+ 26800 with USB-C PD 45W.

Hi Insider,

I do already own the 20000QC. But even so, I would be interested in your recommendations. Also, thank you very much for responding about how to use the two different ports : )

Thanks AnkerSupport for your response. Your answer lead me to another question. How do I know if a device supports QC?

By far my top recommendation would be PowerCore+ 19000 PD. The USB-C port would allow you to charge your MacBook Pro (albeit not as fast as the original charger) or even fast charge one of the following iPad models with a USB-C to Lightning cable.

  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (1st generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 11-inch
  • iPad Pro 10.5-inch
  • iPad Air (3rd generation)
  • iPad mini (5th generation)

If your priority is on charging your MacBook Pro as fast as possible, then the model @AnkerSupport mentioned is also an option.

Hope this helps! :slightly_smiling_face:

Why not

It’s currently cheaper (USA). It is usually lower cost than the 45W version.

Yeah, that’s also an option, but can’t fast charge two devices simultaneously.

Dear AI, thank you for taking the time to answer my question and give me your recommendations. Greatly appreciated!
