Weekend activities! (old thread reanimated)

One of the laptops I’m looking at possible getting (dell g5 SE) comes with a free digital copy of valahalla- which would be sweet!

I fractured my leg this weekend. I’m in a boot for 3 weeks, and crutches for as long as I need them (less then 3 weeks).

This is going to be a slow few weeks .

Hopes of buying my laptop are gone with 3 weeks off work :sob:.

take care and get good rest, you can still buy the laptop after 3 weeks

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I broke my arm badly but fully fit now. At least I could walk and do one arm things so sympathies.

i know you are biking a lot.

After that “break” (lockdown) I got my bike out of the basement today.
Some oil -> All is fine.
Went to the city (I am avoiding public transport now)
There were really many bikers around.
München got a perfect cycle path network.

When I used my bike in the city years ago (university was located in the center)
the cycle riders had to be afraid of the cars.
Not nowadays, the cyclist have to be afraid of other cyclist,
A lot of weirdos around, no rules no nothing.
Overtaking left of right, no problem for them… not using bells…

But I came home safe.
Only my heinie hurt a little. but its gone now!

@TechMan thats bad news, sorry to hear that :pensive:
I hope its not causing you too much pain.
How did you do it?

After work I was walking down the street to my car, and I stepped into a hole that was basically invisible (covered with some stuff). snap

I thought it was my ankle at first, because thats where i felt the pain.

Turns out its my calf bone, but down where it connects to my ankle, and going up about 4 inches. Apparently the stress from the fracture makes me feel the pain in my ankle area.

Andrew!
Its only the calf bone, not the ankle and not the shinbone. :slightly_smiling_face:
Beside all the pains and problems you had and have it could have been worse!
You will recover.
“Bad weeds grow tall” (Hope this is correct and used in USA)

Ouch @TechMan :disappointed_relieved:
Isn’t it ironic that all the physical work you do, something like this happens walking down the street.
Wishing you a speedy recovery mate.

Hate to hear that, I wish you a speedy recovery. Maybe sure you leave it heal good and don’t put too much stress on it, since it’s a fracture you want to be make sure it’s fully healed

There are 4 main phases of healing (clot, soft bone, hard bone, remodelling). Your point is extremely pertinent in the first 2 phases, but if you shy from using it in the 3rd phase then healing is slower.

3 weeks is a good safe average for first 2 phases for a minor fracture.

So 3 weeks of rest, and then start using it some? At what point is it okay to use it fully?

This is gonna be a long month…

So this very much a discussion with your doctor, not here in a forum. Very fracture specific. If you are keen the fastest healing, reach back to the doctor, they’ll put in contact with a physio.

As a rough rule, the more your tolerance for pain, the faster the healing, but let the professionals talk you through that.

The healing process iis a questions of your bone’s and your individual state.
The elder a human being is the lower.
You should listen to your doctor nothing but else.
A fracture is not such a severe thing.
All will be fine after some weeks.
