Hi here in UK they ordered the pubs etc to close last night, takeaway only, so the bright ones are doing takeaway beer.

I know this testing time to will sort out the brighter ones who find the opportunity first.

The concern is eventually, boredom mostly, causes people to have parties and so defeat the purpose of closing pubs of social distance, if that happens the alcohol sales will stop. So basically if you abuse the spirit of the rules get tighter and tighter…

Very strange feeling at the coast today.
Everyone was in high spirits.
Peoples shopping habits are calming down a little now and the shops are starting to have the basics in stock for most of the day.
Its helped by shops not opening 24hrs, it gives the poor staff time to restock the shelves and organise foe the next day.

Yes the hoarding was inevitable as is it’s ending as everyone feels they get enough hoarded.

I been biking around on a bright cool day and you have to be astute to spot anything significant is afoot. There are a few businesses closed due to someone working there got a bug and better safe than sorry.

The crunch time is going to be 4-8 weeks from now, as boredom causes flouting of the isolation request causes the curfew. That guy who holds a party on the first warm dry day will be sorry. Hopefully people don’t abuse the trust and have their liberty reduced.

I’m most likely staying at home this weekend. Got some groceries yesterday and I gotta clean the house so might as well get it over with

Indeed.
People were keeping their distance today until it came to shopping.
While the shops are open it naturally causes people to gather/congregate - this is inevitable.
I feel that while the shops are open things will only get worse.
The pubs are closed, but when I’m in the pub I’m with the 4-6 friends I go in with.
When I go into the shops I am greeted when I go in, maybe ask a member of staff to help find an item, pass the time of day with someone as I am selecting something from the shelf, join the queue with someone in-front and behind me, then get served by the cashier - I make that the same amount of contacts as when I go to the pub!

I don’t know what people need to do for the best!
I can’t help think that everything should close for a few weeks :man_shrugging:t3:

The future is not that hard to predict. The next step after over-buying is the ā€œI got plenty, now avoid the worldā€ and so shops become quieter than average while hoarders stay home. Shops are quiet and highly stocked soon. I expect this next weekend its ā€œdon’t know what’s all the fuss was aboutā€ posts.

It is the complacency 2nd wave which will be one to watch when the same over-reactors then feel the need to express their right to travel, their hoard runs down and they feel the need to re-supply, but by then the virus is much more common and they then cause an uptick of infections which is then the utter total lockdown. That is when shops fully close and its delivery only. I have calculated that date locally but won’t share obviously.

I have a core group of neighbours in the vulnerable group who have no helpers, total of 6 who I am doing their shopping every other day. I know I am increasing my personal risk but I’d rather gift and help than hide from the world in fear. I am keeping them at 3 weeks of stocks and the doorstep delivery is not touched by them for 3 days so anything on their surface is given time to naturally diminish. I’ll keep doing that til I can’t.

The wonderful weather makes this all rather pleasant, little traffic. The only issue is I am apparently bad at buying tomatoes. They all look the same me. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It is fun. One of them gives me coffee with whiskey in, I drink while chatting from 10 feet away. Hic. Wobble. On a bike but still the odd swerve.

I do fear there is open to abuse. I had frequent situations where, say, the cost of the shop was Ā£9 and they gave me Ā£10 and said keep the change. I can see inflation in the abuse. ā€œwant me to do your shopping?ā€. I told them we’ll reckon up later online bank transfer and leave receipt with the items.

Anker is in the core of my day, obviously, using the Life P2 in one ear as I phone them back about their preferred choice of cereals from the only 2 types left.

Final rant, I hate cat food. It’s the one shelf not empty and there is dozens of varieties and I just want to grab and go. I wish supermarkets would have like 2 types of everything.
