Weekend activities! (old thread reanimated)

:ok_hand: that is perfect ! i follow this to date, ask a person if he speaks english before starting with my request

Yes this is more than polite in a non English speaking country.
I know many US-Americans if the come first to Europe they are more than confused about the variety of languages in our continent.
A few days of traveling you may cross many different countries with absolutely different languages.

The most shocking thing I see :
“Visit Europe within 10 days”
e.g.
Lisboa, Madrid, Paris, London, Berlin, Roma, Wien, Praha, Warszawa, København.

I am sure if you make a journey like this, you need a long vacation after to relax!

Ladies, gentlemen, girls and boys.
The weekend is apon us once again, but don’t blink or you might miss it!

You’ll never guess, but we decided to go to a cafe for breakfast and what a nice breakfast it was too!

I hope the weekend brings you everything you hope from it.

I am really surprised what Charlie is always eating!
He is eating such a lot!
And not overweighted! GREAT!
The fellow may need it , I suppose him always in “action”.
Greerings from MĂźnchen my friend Charlie!!!

I was at the flea market today and found a nice piece.

A wall clock from 1908 designed for a child’s room by our
very famous local designer Ludwig Hohlwein.
If you do a research you will find him as a great designer of posters. (1900-1940)
Well known here in Germany.

Take a look Charlie!

Hey @Chiquinho
Yes, Charlie never stops, always outdoors and active.

Charlie says the clock reminds him of the Cornflake box
Does it still work well?

Have not tested yet, the pendulum is missing.
But I I know a buddy who might have a fitting one.

may be the design of the cornflake box was adopted.

Rain is very important of course.
We had some here last week.
Today a little bit cold (-2C) again and sunny.

Have to fire the tile stove again.
But there is enough wood left.
To get wood (beech tree. pieces of 30cm) is not easy in the city.
And it has to be dry, moisture <15% otherwise you will ruin the chimney.

@professor that is too much Rain for a record, hope we get some decent rain here

@Chiquinho that is too cold… Do you only use wood for heat or electric heaters as well?

The huge tile stove is in our living (ground floor)
(And as a Neandertaler I like to handle the fire )

The other rooms in the house are heated by a central natural gas heating from the basement.

Warm water : We have installed a thermal solar system .
Even if there are minus degrees we get about 50C at the collectors on the roof,
(Sun is not so high in winter, claro)

In summer I deactivate the whole system, when the water (400L tank in the basement) is more than 70C or the collector temperature is more than 90C.
Happens very often on sunny days.

This equipment is more than 20 years old, works perfectly.
(Made in Switzerland!)

Addendum
moisture meter

This is the little moisture meter I check the wood.

I’m headed to the flea market today

Very different from country to country.
Other people, other items, but always fun!
Good luck and show us your findings (bargains) :grinning:

I was really lucky yesterday with that clock.
Not easy to be found.
And it is documented in the literature.
I dont mind, but for for real collectors it is really important.

Cool.

How much do fleas cost now?

They are free.
But take a bed in a high class hotel.
This is really a challenge for you!
You will not catch any fleas.
Lovely nice bugs, only!

But at least, while you kiss good night to your near dear ones, you can say … Good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite ( literally)

GREAT GREAT!

I love this.

We keep always our special kind of humor, don’t we?

Have you ever been beaten by those beasts?
I remember it in Ch*le 30 years ago.
Really pains. though I was a more tough fellow in those days as I am now.

BUT : Defending CORONA with Weißbier here! …hehehe!

Enjoy Sunday

I have!! and it was a very bad experience… during one of my international trips, was going from one place to another (not mentioning the country) on a Bus overnight, we were provided blankets for covering. Whole journey over the bus, was bit continuously, so much that the next day I had to sit in ice water tub to soothe myself…

When my daughter Anna was in Fr’nce (Eurasmus),
she got a room ( bed ) in a student hostel!
Bugs.
The room was cleaned twice by professionals.
NO CHANCE.
Those bugs are really bugs.
Hiding somewhere.
You will never catch them,.
There is one chance to : Heat the whole room > 65C!

Poor girl, but those things show young people how hard life can be!
