Weekend activities! (old thread reanimated)

Oh yes Franz, thats a great looking piece.
Do you ever find any military watches?
I have seen some online, on ebay, but its hard to tell if they are real or fake!

I have a a lot of these.
I started collecting those 30 years ago.
The other watch freaks called me crazy.
But now I am happy to have those.

Be careful with those at ebay.
Not really fakes, but so called “marriages”
They put parts together to create such a watch.
Often OMEGAs (UK WWII) are created this way.

This is the one I am, wearing today.
Not military, but of the type I like.
Black dial and very easy to “read”.
Its was manufactured in Germany about 1960 with an PUW Automatic calibre.
Keeps perfectly the time.

Thats a great looking watch.
I would love one of the old Omega watches, but may have to sell some body parts to pay for an original! :joy:

Nice watch

Yes indeed Paul.
OMEGA:
Very difficult to get a really genuine one.
The next time I will wear such one I will show here.
I own some old SEAMASTERs
From time to time I wear, but always careful with these watches.
I had an old watchmaker, living in the Black forest
( He was working for JUNGHANS factory, before he got retired)
who was a really a MASTER.
But he gave up as he is too old now he told me.

It’s very difficult to find a skilled one.
I tried a few watchmakers here, starting with “simple” service, but was not satisfied at all.
Swapping batteries is their job.
I can do this by myself.

The folks from UK love their costs, so they are out there all the time.
They don’t care about weather!

Tough, as Paul & his family!
Always out somewhere.
I love Paul’s reports! :grinning:

We love coats, but not costs.:upside_down_face:

But you’re right there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.

The UK has a brand difficult to get outside of UK called Paramo, it uses the principals animal fur to push out water and so you can wear it in winter no matter what the weather and be warm and dry. I live in mine October-April.

Well @Chiquinho and @ikari04warrior, you won’t be surprised to hear we visited the coast again today, we just needed a little fresh air and a walk.

Firstly I hope you all had a great weekend and it was a relaxing or exciting as you wanted it to be.

Heres a few photos to bore you all, as you’ve come to expect!

Was a little cold and windy and not very many people around.

I love this old tractor, it’s one of a few used to pull the crabbing boats up on shore.

We visited the lifeboat centre, thankfully no call outs for 4 days but the volunteers are still on duty, even Charlie :joy:

The lifeboat centre is on the end of the pier, which is having repair work done currently.

I wish you all a pleasant week.

Paul, I am not sure you love the “costs”.
I forgot that “a”.
But as usual your photos are great.

Those photos made me think about coming vacations.

First France; Alsace at Easters.
Than Portugal in May,
Think we will visit the “middle” part this year : May be near Coimbra or Leiria.
I know that region, have been there 30 years ago.

Summer : I contacted the “old friends” (velhos amigos) at the Acores Islands.
They are ready to give us shelter!
Now we need the fights to be booked.
Thats more difficult than to get a house there!

@professor is absolutely right, its a question of the clothes.

“long johns” :joy:

That is making me think we need to book our summer holiday!
One year you will have to come to England.
We will show you our local favourite destinations, including Cromer of course :+1:t2:

Great pictures like always. It’s always better when the beaches are not crowded. That way you can really enjoy the view and take great pictures.

I like to go at night time with a flashlight and look for crabs lol

I have been in UK many years ago. (50 years ago I think)
England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
I liked the people there.
Always a lot of gentleness.
All the problems caused by WWII were gone in those times already.
That was interesting for me to recognize.
I was a tiny pupil at those times, not much money -> hitch hiking.
Such a lot of invitations I got, incredible.
Good memories! :grinning:

Where you intend to take vacations Paul?

Torches from ANKER will do.
Nit for detecting crabs only!

Bolder 30 will help to enlighten the French, Irish coasts!
For Norwegian coast you will need a Bolder 90!
Now I got that missing “a”. (no more costs)

On New Years day they set fireworks off from the pier.
This year i took the Bolder LC40 and blinded the people on the beach.

We haven’t spent much time in Scotland or Ireland.
We haven’t decided on the destination this year so maybe one of those.
Charlie wants to go to Dorset which is the southwest corner of the country. It would be a good destination but we are confused why Charlie picked it as we have never been before! :joy:

Yes, on the whole we are a pleasant nation and very welcoming, if you ever return i think you would notice big changes, for better and for worse I’m sure.
