Weekend activities! (old thread reanimated)

Brexit is to blame for sure.
I dont know anyone growing plums but we certainly have lots of blossom on local cherry trees Franz.

Cherry and apple are fine and have a lot of blossoms, but not the plum.

Small trees, because the garden is small, but it’s quite a luxury in the middle of the city.

It is blowing my mind how late our trees are sprouting leaves this year. It is the beginning of May and my silver maple just has buds on it and a majority of the neighborhood trees have no leaves at all. Really strange compared to the last 5 years where we have had leaves by early April. Can’t wait for Fall when the leaves decide to come down when it begins to snow.

Really?
I don’t like snow at all, though I was born in the alps.

This was 2 weeks before it snowed last year. Definitely did not drop all the leaves beforehand lol.

Fantastic, beautiful tree. you got.
What kind is it?

You got a lot of space in your garden.
You could plant many things there!
I would suggest some apple trees, those kinds which do grow in your area.

We have a similar big one here.
It’s the neighbor’s huge beech tree.
But it’s ours as well.!
ca 80 years old, but still strong and healthy.
And we do all care about it.

Our garden is a tiny one incl the house we got about 600 sqm but in the middle of the city its more than luxury regarding the prices for 1 sqm here .

We are now in a little village, near Bragança.
Its located near the spanish border in a national parque.
A lot of walking can be done.
Temperature is fine, because we are in the mountains.
And what is most important for us :
Its absolutely quiet and a has a lot of space etc.
Three bathrooms, two bedrooms, a huge living.

hope everyone had a great weekend. Its been a pretty crazy one for me only two weeks of college left and finishing up my senior design project. currently waiting for one more part to finish being 3D printed and then it should be just finishing touches. Fingers crossed it all goes well.

Are you on vacation/holiday, Franz?

Yes we are.
I will take photos.
What is really incredible is how silent it is in this little village.
But really funny there at the end of the world is a bar.
On old lady is the chefa.
I never expected such one at such a lonely place.
Its very hidden.
Thats a view from the veranda in the early morning.

Now that’s my idea of a vacation! No barking dogs, no hammering, no leaf blowers, no noisy neighbors watching TV & talking outside or having a pool party til midnight.

Enjoy your vacation, Franz! Looking forward to more photos :+1:

Funny you are talking about dogs.
I “got” one.
Always in front of our house.
Huge one, not barking.
He is a perfect watching dog
He likes to go with us on walking tours.
But our rented FIAT 500 is too small.

Ah, a vacation dog…no commitment to your “best friend” so no need to feed him or clean up after him (among other tasks). Happy to hear that he’s quiet. :+1:

Yesterday i got in troubles in that little bar.
After a beer I changed to wine.
(Of course a local one, they got in 5L bottles there.)
Because an elder senhor his name is Joăo told me the wine
is much better than the beer.
And of course it is.
This local " vinho tinto" has a very special taste, but its good.
I am sure its a clean stuff.
So we were discussing who pays ( glass is 1/2 Euro )
He was getting angry, so I let him pay.
But today and the rest of the week it will be my turn, I told him.
We were talking a lot about many things.
Without knowing the language one would be lost here.
Of course not totally :
Young people should speak English but of course my new special friends in that very special bar don’t.

Really pleased you are having a great time Franz.
Go easy on the vino, it goes down easier when you’re on holiday.
Before you realise, you’ll need that dog to guide you home @Chiquinho

The dog, I call him Barry, is always lurking at the door.
I was so stupid when I gave him a cake we were donated but didn’t like.
Now he is begging for more, but I can and will not give.

So some translational movement, a limit switch and lots of wires… what is the scope of your project?

Have you started testing yet?

its a prototype to move a chess piece using an electromagnet. Right now for this project it takes users input to know where the piece is and where to move it to but in the future I hope to move away from that. But given the school assignment time limit its the best I have for now. So there are two motors one for movement up and down the other for left and right and the limit switches are for homing the electromagnet so it knows where it is on the board at the start of the program. Its been a long journey to get here with a lot of design and redesign. the tape on the edges is magnetic tape that allows me to take the top off to show the internals and possibly fix them if something goes wrong.
