Weekend activities! (old thread reanimated)

There is a fantastic movie about vampires!
Werner Herzog “Nosveratu”
May be not so known over the pond.

Werner Herzog is beside of Stanley Kubrick one of my favorite directors.
He created some films in the USA as well,
but the best are with Klaus Kinsky (RIP)

Oooo some very nice pictures it’s pretty nice out over here might go out for a walk. I’ve been meaning to dig out my bike but it’s been a while since it’s been ridden

Now as we have temperatures > 20C I started biking.
But not 100 miles.
But a little is better than nothing!
A lot of special biker paths here in München.
Not the cars are dangerous here.
They keep an eye on the bikers meanwhile.
Not they!
The other bikers are overtaking from left or right. No signals at all.
Not using the correct path of traffic

So stupid and crazy they are.

Yeah there are some crazy bikers here too and lots of cars. My favorite are the people who wear all black on a black bike in the middle of the night making it impossible to see them

The bike illumination is a legal provision here.
But too many dont care.

Recharging bike lights while rehydrating.

All my bikes have lights and I use them, I have 3 bikes, 2 with dynohubs and lights so they automatically make light by moving, and 1 with battery rechargeable lights I recharge overnight.

I assume drivers are blind and murderous and so avoid them, stop and wait for them. I’ve not been hit by a car for 34 years.

No my biggest issue of recent years is daydreaming, looking at views, not thinking, not looking at the road. Ooops, whack, oh bugger.

I don’t listen or look at anything, just me and the road, 8 hours today.

Holy crap a 100 mile bike ride? I’m sure the scenery and the sense of accomplishment was really worth it.

My lazy ass would probably drive a car lol

I’ve done longer, about 168 miles was my limit.

It is mostly about:

  • night before - no alcohol
  • sleep the night before as much as possible, wake / sleep / wake / sleep / oh I give up sleeping
  • eat
  • bike
  • eat / bike / eat / bike (food is best in small quantities, often)
  • lots of water. For hot weather I find I use 1L / hour.

That’s literally the magic method in total. Not difficult.

The free water at gas stations where is the air, which say not drinking water… it is drinking water… not killed me (so far). I think they mean not filtered / cleaned.

Good plan and very smart for those long bike rides! How long would you say it takes you to bike that many miles?

Assume 10mph

More as you get fitter. Fitness is not just strength, it is tolerance for heat or cold, hills, etc. Long flat faster rides stress the wrists.

At any particularly time, a part of you is the weakest, and will need the stress then sleep, to then not be. Just do it…

Those kind of remedies are only useful to such old specialists as we are. :joy:

Do you want to see a real hard worker’s gloves :

Was cutting some wood today.

May be ANKER should create such, instead of Coffee cups. :joy:

Have some that are worn out in those same spots on the fingers, also largely from splitting / moving wood.

Getting replacements was a good choice…
