This print alone took 21 hours, the next one I got going now will take 16 to 17 hours. And the final 2 will take approximately 20 hours and 36 hours to print. The 36 hour one is Jack Skellingtons mask, havnt decided if I want to make a single dimension mask or full wrap around style for that one. But Halloween is fast approaching so I gotta get these done
Weekend activities! (old thread reanimated)
Oh it will get painted for sure, as I said it had just got done printing. Once I plastic weld the seam and sand it a bit It can be painted
Let us see the result.
Thatās so funny, I showed the mask to my wife.
She said , laughing: "
āWhat kind of friends do you have there, creating such weird thingsā?
I told her :
"THE BEST"
Iām sure they will come out great. What model of 3D printer do you have?
WOW!
Thats a fair bit longer than i thought @Tank, but must be amazing watching it take shape, literally!
The whole concept of 3D printing intrigues me.
Iāve heard the printers can be quite expensive, are the printing materials expensive?
After a rest, I biked home, only about a mile, but first time two feet pedaling for a month.
Iām assuming my body will complain overnight.
Iām sure it will, and again in the morning!
But Iām sure every outing will get easier for you @professor
Broke arm in May, took 6 weeks til could bike, then managed only 1 mile, rested, then got 30 mile, rested, then got to 60 mile, rested, then was back to full capability.
My foot is complaining already, pedaling, the movement of the ankle. Anyhow, picked up a double cheeseburger on way home and as I type is being morphed into new muscle (hopefully)
I have the Ender 3 Pro, cost about 190 shipped on sale from Amazon. I have since upgraded the extruder feeder, and the bed springs and knobs.
@paulstevenewing the filament depends on what type and brand. I use PLA and PLA+ for most things so cost per spool range from 15 bucks up to 55 for much larger rolls. I tend to buy the medium size spools so coat is around 15 to 20 bucks.
The most expensive stuff I have is TPU, which is flexible filament which cost 30 bucks for a small spool.
I like the black one better!
But thatās only my taste.
Do you know that those masks (called āLarvenā in German) have a historical tradition here in the alpin region were I was born.
Those old wooden ones were carved by real specialists and used in āFaschingā (Carneval) and are really hard to get.
You can do a research by using āWerdenfelser Holzlarvenā
And you can take a look
These mask are from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmasā¦ Oogie Boogie, this red one is Lockā¦the next one thats printing now is Shock and then I have to print Barrel
Donāt forget a few years ago we dressed as Lock shock and barrel with the mask my wife made. But those are now wall props as they were made with clay and need some work to be worn again. So I decided to just use the 3d printer to make them since I have it.
I remember that photo Rob.
Really funny!
I am sure you will take one with your new masks.
And I see some of the pumpkins in front of the window!
Wow those are great!
And this is what happens when your 3d prints failā¦at least it completed and failed. But still, now I have to adjust the printer and reprint this mask. It broke by the mouth, underextruded filament when it got towards the top and overextruded all around. Ugh, such a waste and now have to readjust the machine so it doesnāt do this again.
No chance to glue and paint .
Paint a scar over it? Features?
