USB-C Mini-Dock gets very warm during normal operation

I have a Premium USB-C Mini-Dock connected to a 2017 MacBook Pro 13". Power to the Mac is provided by a PowerPort+ 5 USB-C using a Powerline+ USB-C to USB-C 2.0 cable that is connected TO the Mini-Dock.

At this time I only have power through the Mini-Dock and it is warm to the touch. I plan to connect my external monitor using the HDMI port on the dock and also an external USB hard drive for my backups.

Is it normal for the Mini-Dock to get very warm during normal operation? I suspect it will get even warmer when I start using more ports. Am I correct in that assumption? And should I be concern?

Thanks

Hi @V_Islander, thank you for contacting us. Kindly be advised that a little warmth is to be expected, but a lot of warmth may indicate a fault. To offer better service, could we trouble you to unplug all cables (including power cable) from the hub and unplug the hub from your computer for five minutes to retry? would you please try a different HDMI cable to see if the same issue happens?

To better solve your question, could you please contact us via support@anker.com with above test result? We are glad to help you ASAP!

Could it be an issue with the type c cable being type c 2.0 instead of 3.1?
