US residents will get a cheque from government

What do you mean by 20% bad?

I agree, and this Coronavirus isn’t stopping the weather.

I think this will accelerate the transition toward drive-through/park and pick up shopping at grocery stores like Walmart. More people will start doing it to avoid getting sick and then never go back.

Hi Josh, how you doing?

How many who feel ill at the same time. That is the not-yet-ill added to the were-ill-but-feel-fine-now.

I did that calculation a month ago, based on what we saw from the 3 initially worst impacted countries and I got to 50%, but the politicians finally listened to science and maths and now doing what is required to flatten the curve.

We’ll be 95% fine.

Where you are up in Kansas, you’re also going to do fine.

Agree. I also see the global warming caused by people needlessly driving will reduce.

He is true business man… he might sell it when it’s all over … may be 2 months ?

No it should be citizens, not residents :man_facepalming:

Ah, I see what you mean.

Well, @professor, I am a senior this year and just yesterday the Kansas governor ordered all schools to be closed for the rest of the school year, so it’s just sad not being able to fully experience my last semester of high school. I understand that it was probably a good decision but still sad.

And I’m also a bit afraid about the potential economic impact from all of this. They are saying a recession is basically a lock at this point, but will it be long-lasting? That is what I would like to know as I will be trying to get a full-time job in just a few years.

Well amongst us are some level heads. What if your last semester got swapped with summer vacation so you had a long break now and then school opened in say June and kept going.

Hint.

Long term, if you’re flexible, the negative does not exist, for some it is positive, for reasons obvious, but best not said openly. For you this is a net positive.

This is the reason I am still taking part here.
I was always learning from students and younger colleagues
when I was working at the university.

Getting older in the job, the young people kept me young in mind
and helped me old Neanderthaler a lot!

All more clever than I was and am.
But there is a difference between
Knowledge and experience …heheh!

A symbiosis we had.

Isn’t it really “The TAX payers” ?? no matter who it is as long as they are paying taxes?

That’s correct. It is going to be for US taxpayers. They did similar thing during 2008-09 recession where everyone got $600

Why exactly??? Don’t you think non citizens (permanent residents, legal non immigrants) support US economy by paying taxes?

Actually, those not born in a country contribute more as they arrived pre educated and of parents with gumption and often better educated.

Be kind.

good points, well put @professor @kumar.sachin

These are testing times across the world, and time we least talk about politics. Its mostly the mindset that causes this differentiation, separations… citizens or not, immigrants or not… we are people, with near and dear ones … that is important.
