What about when I upgrade my phone next year and Apple gets rid of lightning? Now my power bank is useless…

I could when just bought a bank with a USB-C port and it would last for many more years…

I don’t see how the pros outweigh the cons on this one…

See I told them not to make ones of these, but nobody listens to me. I told them you want to stick with USB c as the majority of phones on the market use that, but noooo it’s all about apple and what apple is doing now.
Besides, this would work for those who choose not to upgrade their phones. Besides the iPhone 12 is rumored to look like the 4 did, so how much of an upgrade would that really be?

I mean the shape of the phone isn’t the main reason people choose there phones…

USB-C still would have been a much better choice

Oh, you guys

That’s kinda been my standpoint for all built in cable versions, outside of the obvious thing of what if the cable breaks :scream::confounded:

There is a USB-C version coming though as per @Insider OP…

Maybe the game plan for Anker if to align with specific Apple Exclusives for certain products in the line up :raised_hands:

A second new Anker product to be a Best Buy exclusive this week. Interesting.

Position it in or near the Apple section of a Best Buy store and it’ll sell. Another add-on item for the Apple rep to up sell new/upgrading iPhone customers on.

The built-in Lightning does limit its future proofing. But people are keeping their iPhones longer these days. And if the iPhone 12 has USB-C the brand new iPhone 8/XR/11 also for sale at lower prices will still have Lightning. Outside of iPhone 12 early adopters the Lightning market won’t disappear until a few years afterwards. And by then Anker will have an all new line of PowerCore models.

The real question is, will the USB-C version also have a built-in cable?

I’ve reviewed a non-Anker power bank with similar fabric exterior. Almost the same look. The material is a flame-retardant plastic, but looks and feels like rough fabric. Scratches and smudges are not an issue. It struck me as something that looks at home in a suit jacket pocket.

It is also the only power bank approved by my cat. Hopefully Anker can live up to the same expectations

I don’t think this is a Best Buy exclusive. That’s just where it’s going to be available first.

Yes

Ja that’s our fate, Rob.
My wife doesn’t listen to me , why ANKER should.
But the fellows are so quick creating a new model of a new model …
We know this!

Funny!
The cat phoned hours with her Tomcat.
Now a nap and charging is necessary.
:joy:

Gotcha. Maybe that’ll be the same for the PowerPort PD Nano.

And thanks for sharing the USB-C version will also have a built-in cable.

USB-C will be the winner.

Pretty sure not everyone will get the new phone. There are still people around the world that use iPhone 5’s, not to mention all the old iPad models still in use. Lighting accessories will be useful for years to come.

Useful for a very niche market. Many people will be completely done with lightning in the next 1-2 years, and the longevity of the battery will be much longer than that.

I wouldn’t buy any power bank with a built in cable. What if the cable breaks? Then you have brick that will go to the landfill…maybe its gets recycled.

Besides, as others mentioned iPhones are doing with lightning cables soon. This will be good for those that keep their phones for more than 2 years and generally only update when the phone can longer be updated. But with a built-in cable I doubt it will last that long and if it does, there’s good chance the battery won’t last that long.

Very doubtful, but we’ll see. Doubt this battery will be in circulation that long anyway.

Good product, a bit late to market.

Lot of users already have a powerbank or moved away from Apple or Apple itself might axe the Lightning port.

Powercore+ 10000 with USB-C might be the silver lining to this range of product.

When I first looked at the pic, I thought the PowerCore was an actual slip on case that goes over your phone. Hahaha. For me personally, I don’t like powerbanks with built in cables. Sure, they are convenient but for me, the cables tend to be too short and thus has to be placed and put on a certain way. It just tends to be awkward for me. I prefer just having a stand alone powerbank and having a separate cable. Especially if the cable becomes defective and needs replacing. But I do like the texture of this powercore.
