I have been using Apple’s Private mode and Chrome’s Incognito options for few days already… not sure how it is going to help me.
Now it is coming to Google Maps as well. What is your take on it?
Does it really help with Privacy issues out there?
The Google Maps feature we’ve been waiting for is finally here
This is a great feature. I won’t really use it. I have nothing to hide when I travel. I actually find the timeline and location features useful. I have to track my mileage for business reasons and the logs are great proof that the I made the trip and how far I had to drive.
As to the private feature, I have a hard time believing this feature or the in browser private feature is really that private. Sure it blocks the app documenting your browser, visibly tracking your location, and stops most location/themed ads from popping up. Keep in mind this product is free and so is this feature. Nothing is truly, Google still has access to your data and will use it as they choose to.
I’m glad google provides the options, but I don’t see it as a necessity for me. As @Element321 said, I have nothing to hide while traveling.
Similar to you, I Google maps share my phone’s location with my wife so she knows where I am.
I let my wife track me using Find My Friends on iOS, which is going to be “Find My” in new iOS13.1
Wasn’t it called find my in iOS 13 as well? Maybe not- I was never on it. I’ve been on the betas
On All of the iOS 13 betas it was called find my
Yes, I meant starting iOS 13
Great, looking forward to that feature
A cute feature. Doesn’t matter though. as you’ll just be tracked based on your cellular connection still or nearby WiFi networks. I guess if you want your location searches in your history?
