Has anyone successfully connected a Surface Pro 4 with a PowerExpand 13-in-1 USB-C Dock?
In a way to have the dock power the Surface and well as having the dock and anything connected to it recognized by the Surface. This doesn’t seem to be possible to me. I have only been able to either power up the Surface with the dock or connect the dock to the Surface and have it recognized. This seems like a serious flaw in a $200 dock! Any advice, ideas, suggestions?
Surface Pro & PowerExpand 13-in-1 USB-C Dock
for starters your trying to use the wrong type of dock with the surface pro 4. This dock you have relies on using USB-C to connect to devices in order to expand its functionality, which your surface pro does not have and thus must rely on USB 3.0 to connect it. This connection can only do one or two functions but not both as by design due to the power limits of USB 3.0, so you can trickle charge your suface pro or connect devices to it. This is no fault of the hub, but rather you buying the wrong product for your needs, in this case since you have a older surface pro 4 you need or should buy the dock specifically made for this tablet as it does what you need in providing power and allowing you to expand its ports
