Hi, just wondering if anyone had success connecting the echo dot with soundcore boost?
Most advice says to make sure that the boost firmware is up up date. I tried that and ‘bricked’ my boost. Excellent service from Anker, replacement sent under warranty without question.
I’m reluctant to touch my replacement boost in case I repeat the disaster.
The echo dot just doesn’t ‘see’ the boost when it’s in pairing mode.
Soundcore Boost with Echo Dot (3rd gen)
This is a silly question but is the boost also in pairing mode?
Yes, in pairing mode with Bluetooth light blinking. Disconnected from all other devices.
When I updated mine I followed the video EXACTLY and all was fine.
If you think something about your computer bricked your original boost I can see why you’re hesitate to update your new one but as long as you unzip the firmware and the speaker registers when you plug it in you’ll be ok.
I don’t have a 3rd gen dot or I’d do some testing to confirm they will work together after the update.
Yes, that’s the procedure that I followed, just got to the updating stage on the update assistant then came up with a ‘fail’ message. Speaker wouldn’t power up or show any sign of life afterwards.
I think I’ll bite the bullet and try the firmware update on the new one.
Thanks for reply.
It’ll be a few days before I do it, as I’m on holiday on Monday for 10 days and don’t want to brick another speaker before I go away.
Thanks for advice, I’ll let you know how I get on.
Try a fresh download-unzip of the firmware file just to be safe. Sometimes the files can become corrupted during download or while being unzipped that might have been what bricked your old boost.
Good luck and keep us posted.
FYI when you are ready to get a new speaker eventually there are many soundcore models that update firmware through the Soundcore App.
