SoundCore 2 not charging, can't update firmware

I’ve been using it for a while, usually plugged into a USB port on my Mac. Works fine, until today. The red charging light is on, but if I unplug the cable, it goes off immediately. This doesn’t seem right, but I haven’t had this experience before. Isn’t USB enough to charge the device with it in use?

In addition, I downloaded the firmware installer and firmware file, but even though the SoundCore 2 is plugged into my Mac, getting enough power to play music, the firmware app does not see it.

Most Usb ports often output less than 500ma which is wiked low to keep this charged while in use. It may have been charging in standby mode when nothing was playing but most likely it was running off the battery the majority of the time you used it.
