Shortlived Soundcore Boost

Have (or should I say had?) a Soundcore Boost bluetooth speaker. Lovely thing. Nice design, good sound. It was dropped once (seriously only once) from about waist height and has never worked correctly again. Battery life instantly was cut in half. It goes from 4 dots to 2 on the charge scale immediately after full charging. The battery life was never great but now is less than two hours at moderate volume. Secondly, if the bass boost is engaged (or if the volume is turned up) the speaker goes “zzzzttt!” loudly and shuts itself off. Interestingly it will turn back on immediately when the power button is pressed.

Has anyone else had these problems? Is a repair possible? Thanks

Some things to try

  1. Try to reset - when in standby mode pressing/holding “power” button for more than 4s to delete previous pairing records.

  2. Note that SoundCore Boost speaker can play music while it is being recharged. Does it shut down while connected to power?

SoundCore Boost is stated to have 12 hrs battery life but Playtime varies depending on volume and audio content.

From the symptoms - looks like it is mostly a battery issue.

How long has it been with this speaker now?

If it is with 18month, it may still be under Anker / SoundCore warranty (terms and conditions apply)

Thanks Shenoy :slightly_smiling_face:
I don’t recall my Soundcore Boost ever playing whilst charging but it certainly does now. Maybe one thing broke and another fixed itself when it tumbled. Either way, I believe you are right about the battery. It has played most of the day without issue whilst plugged in.

Sadly my device is two years old so outside of the warranty period. I will source a new battery. Google says it is model number AKS100L, part number 2S18650, 7.4V 2600mAh, Li-Ion. Any advice on where or where not to buy a replacement battery would be appreciated.
