S9 Plus

What Anker products do you want for the S9 Plus?

Any of their chargers with PowerIQ 2.0 will fast charge Samsung products. But they only have a few with that tech. Be nice to see it more regularly on multi-port USB-C/USB-A chargers and power banks. PowerIQ 2.0 + USB-C Power Delivery will fast charge the majority of modern smartphones.

I thought the S9 also quick charged via PD (?).

Yeah I use the atom to charge my s9 plus. But 8t doesnt take the full 30w.

I really like the 5w charger in its stand i printed for it. Because i leave it overnight, the slower charge is irrelevant.

I would like a karapax case with a metal plate built in at a spot where it would not interfere qith wireless charging.

But it does “Quick Charge”?

18W?

I want the PowerPort Atom pd 1. I knew there has been good sales but by the time I see them, it’s usually late

Nope. Only 10.1w. The phone calls it a “fast charge” though.

Samsung phones will charge with USB-C and USB-C PD, but it isn’t as fast as possible. The phone may indicate “fast charge” but if you measure the power draw or time the charge there’s a difference.

With Samsung Adapter Fast Charging, PowerIQ 2.0, or Quick Charge they can draw up to 18W.

With USB-C PD they’ll draw ~10W.

That 10W isn’t nothing. The iPhone’s included charger is only 5W. Most wireless charging pads are 5-10W. But it isn’t truly fast charging. Also worth nothing the power draw drops as the phone charges. If your phone is rarely below 50% before you charge then fasting won’t do much for you. If your phone gets below 10% regularly then fast charging saves a good bit of time.

Interesting. Yeah, 10W is not the slowest charge, but definitely not a typical fast charge. I guess there is conflicting information out on the Internet…

One of the trade-offs of usb-c and power delivery I guess :sob:

Fast charging Android phones in general is complicated. There are 8 different fast charging standards out there, including Anker’s PowerIQ 2.0. Some can mix and match. Others are our way or the highway. Best approach is to learn what your phone works with and ignore the rest of the noise.

I have a write up on fast charging Android phones for anyone interested in learning more.

Yeah, and you have to test with a meter, and not just trust what the phone displays…
