PowerPort + saying it may not be a authorized accessorie on iOS

Purchased from Amazon about a year ago and its worked flawlessly on all my IOS devices until last night. Woke up to a uncharged phone and has told me all day it may not be a authorized accessorie.

What’s the issue? Is there a fix? Anyone else having this issue?

May be there was an “update” of OS.
You never know what those “updates” will evoke. :worried:

Did you change the cable you were charging with? lightning cables that are not apple MFi certified will give you that error message.

The cable might also just be worn out or faulty.

I’ve tried three original apple cables, one was brand new never used. I know my original charging base or iPad base will work with those cords on my phone so I didn’t know if it’s a part failing in my power port + or what. Figured I’d ask cause I don’t have access to my old Amazon account so I doubt I can warrenty it out.

@AnkerOfficial any suggestions?

Regarding my long experience, I’m always suspicious with “updates”.
Often you need to go back to the version you have just “updated”.

I know when my Anker cables have become old or faulty that I’ve had the same message pop up on my iPhone and iPad so could be a cable issue.

If not, Anker require the serial number and maybe they could get your order number manually as you don’t have access to your Amazon account.

I would take a look at your charging port, a bit of dust or lint can cause faulty connection and cause that message to pop up even with genuine apple cables, same goes for Anker cables and anything else you plug in. I would also take a dry/damp cloth and clean the lightning connector end to remove any dirt or grime that may also cause interference.

Yes the corner of a hanky dipped in a little bit of medical alcool or methylated spirits and cleaning the input of the phone might be helping.

Great tips @elmo41683 but a few words of caution.

Be very careful when cleaning the charge port on your phone. Use only soft objects like a toothpick wood/plastic anything else might damage the port.

Also make sure you are unplugged from the wall when attempting to clean the lightning connector on the cable or you could get a little zap:zap::dizzy_face::zap:

We all obviously doubt the charger is at fault 99% of the time it is a cable related issue but after you have tried cleaning the port and lightning connector if you still receive the message email Support@anker.com with the S/N explain the steps you have taken so far and that you do not have access the the order number I’m sure they will work something out.

Does the cable still work with other apple devices?

As @ndalby often recommends, a hard restart (hold power and home until Apple logo appears) can sometimes fix the issue.

It randomly started working again. I have no clue what it is, all I know is as soon as I’m able to I’ll just buy a new power port and 10 foot cable so I don’t have to try to figure it out. Seems like it’s a work when I want type thing. Thanks for the recommendations guys!

A cable might be broken in a year, but that would be quite fast for this pricelevel.
But the Powerport certainly should keep working for over a year.
