PowerPort output

I have been trying to troubleshoot possible issues with my USB cables and am coming to the realisation that I might be looking at the wrong piece of the puzzle.

Does anyone else here have a current measuring device to test the output from their PowerPort ports? If so, I would be grateful if you could tell me if the output you get is consistent. I am finding that I can swap between the five ports and sometimes I will get 0.7A out, sometimes 1.5A and sometimes 1.8A. This is all with the same USB cable and charging my OnePlus One. I’m wondering if it’s actually a fault with the PowerPort and not the cables I am using.

I typically use a USB power meter during my reviews and I’ve noticed similar behavior. It appears to depend on whatever “mood” the device is in when I plug it in. Sometimes it will draw close to 2 amps, sometimes it’s closer to 1 amp. I would leave the device connected for awhile and see if the amperage stabilizes after 5 minutes or so. You could also try plugging in another device (capable of drawing 2 amps) into the same ports to see if it still only outputs 0.7 amps.
