Or just take the top of and drink it like it was a normal glass/cup
Paper Straws are annoying
Itâs not that I eat for a long time. Itâs that I drink a lot when I eat (and I probably shouldnât). Typically, Iâll go through at least 2 refills of Diet Coke with a typical fast food meal. Maybe this is nature telling me that I should cut back on soda. Ok, Mother Nature, you are right. Iâll cut back on soda. Thanks for reminding me.
Had been to Subway yesterday, and I exactly co-relate what you mean to say, the paper straw gets soaked / loses the stiffness and makes it un-usable â with more than half of soda still unused.
My first response was ⌠leave, and not change the straw, just leave it. Many would do the same, or get more straws next time they use it.
Have to agree, hate the paper straws, they just donât last the duration of a McDonaldâs milkshake! I have to keep taking it out between sips!!! Need to get an alternative and keep in the car as we only tend to stop at McDâs when on road trips so are stuck with the paper ones they supply that just arenât man enough for milkshakes!
though, we may have been lucky, will avoid these, will be storing these Steel Straws away⌠and research on other re-usable straws⌠better safe than sorry⌠anyday, anytime!
That sprays the liquid up in the air like a water fountain! Brilliant!
Drink beer normally no straws needed.
If you use those when drinking beer be careful.
They look like AirPods
I thought the same thing!
Ooh they look good, thank you, will definitely check them out!
I hate them.
A mcd milkshake is hard enough to drink but even worse with a paper straw.
Plus, paper straws are ecologically worse than plastic straws⌠Cut down trees for the paper, and they canât be recycled AT ALL. where as plastic straws can be recycled.
Metal ones are ok if you use a drive thro and keep on your car, but otherwise you donât keep on you⌠Who wants a straw in their pocket?
Weâve recently gone through the plastic to paper straw change here in the UK with apparently 80% of people surveyed agreeing with the ban.
Iâm all for helping unwind the environmental mess.
But canât help thinking politicians used banning straws as a quick win for them to flex their muscles and boast a big win for the environment.
Same for the retailers who are dropping plastic straws in advance of legislation.
Straws make up .025% of plastic that ends up in our seas.
Asia contributes 50% of the plastic waste the ends up in our seas with China being biggest contributor at 28%.
Plastic is an almost perfect solution for many applications - especially drinking straws.
Banning plastic straws because we canât dispose or recycle them correctly seems absurd.
Except the plastic straws were recyclable but the paper ones are not. At least the McD ones.
Interesting. Very interesting.
Thatâs crazy!
People kinda forget that paper straws are not actually juts paper. If they were, theyâd you know disintigrate on contact with water like actual paper does. Which is why theyâre all coated with wax. The wax on the straws makes them 100% non recyclable and utterly useless
Which is why its actually kinda dumb we wen tfrom styrofoam cups to paper cups. Styrofoam is plastic and thus is actually recycleable. Its utterly idiotic we made cups out of 100% totally recycleable material, and through sheer ignorance and stupidity, replaced them with something that is 100% not recycleable and 1000% WORSE than styrofam in terms of performance.
Paper cups CANT BE RECYCLED for the exact same reaosn paper straws cant. Theyâre covered in wax. Meaning they cannot be recycled into paper products, and so they are just put into landfills because paper recyclers DO NOT WANT THEM
Its like arm chair environmentalists have learned nothing and just want âeasyâ things to ban rather than doing ACTUAL stuff that would be useful
99% of âenvironmentalistsâ wouldnt last 1 week in Japan being forced to actually you know recycle stuff properly.
You see countries that actually have recycling programs, and actually understand that just throwing random garbage into a bin doesnt work. But this means consumers actually have to WORK to make reccycling possible. but oh no why would actual people need to expend actual energy to do proper recycling? Nope just single stream everything, because weâre all lazy and we feel good throwing paper cups and paper straws into the recycling bin, so they can be THROWN INTO LANDFILLS.
Paper straws are
- Utter garbage in terms of performance
- Are OBJECTIVELY worse for recycling compared to plastic straws
- Are able-ist and discriminate against disabled people who actually need plastic straws, because you know being handicapped they probably arent keen carrying and most importantly constantly washing straws, which for abled people is already a giant pain and hard to do.
There are much more important problems in our tiny world.
We were discussing about the plastic package used by Anker an soundcore.
Hope those will get better in the future.
I got a motion b lastly and that was OK,
