New speakers advice needed!

Hi guys

I’m in need of a new Bluetooth speaker. I’ve had an Anker A3143 for years and LOVE it! Anyway I now need a replacement. I ordered a pair of Dockin D Cubes - but sent them back. I thought they sounded awful! Not even as good as my cheap and trusty A3143.

What I want is something like the old Anker Premium speaker but MORE…! If that makes sense?

I’ve narrowed it down to the Motion+ - as this seems to fit the bill. What do people think?

I’d also like something really portable to go with the motion+ but can’t decide between a Mini (original) or Mini 2. This Mini 2 would make a lot of sense as I assume I could pair this with the Motion+. The thing putting me off it and considering the original Mini is lots of the reviews I’ve read say the original Mini sounds a lot better than the Mini 2. Does anyone own both? What do you think? Mini or Mini 2? It’s worth saying I’m not bothered about FM radio or playing of micro SD or if it’s waterproof. Just interested in the best sound.

From what I’ve heard, the motion+ is an amazing speaker with great sound!

You could not pair the mini 2 with the motion+, since only like pairs with like.

If your phone support dual audio then you could pair the two using your phone Bluetooth.

I have the Soundcore flare, and I love it! It works well as in “at home” speaker- because of how loud it is -and as a portable speaker- because of how small it is. It provides great sound quality as well! I wrote a full review here.

I don’t think you will go wrong with any of the newer-(ish) Soundcore speakers.

That’s good to know about the pairing. So doesn’t really make the Mini 2 any more appealing for me. Might just go with the Mini 1.

Good to hear about the Flare. I was looking at the Flare+ and the Motion+. Not really sure why I’m leaning towards the Motion+ - might just be the tweeters and 30W power. Also USB C seems like a good addition to me. Would be interested to hear if people think I’m making the wrong call. Which one (Motion+ or Flare+) would people choose and why…?

If you’re looking for a higher end speaker around the price of $100, than the motion+ definitely wins over the flare+. Mainly because of the USB-C for me. I also like the design slightly better. Even soundcore chooses the motion+ over the flare+ :wink:

I think that the soundcore icon mini looks like an amazing speaker for a smaller option! IMHO I would choose it over the mini 1 or mini 2 any day of the week- and it has a similar price point.

Regarding price and funcionality, yes I do.
For me the USB-C (Motion+) is not so important.
I wrote it in my review. The FLARE is a real allrounder:
Portability etc.

With this speaker you can not go wrong.

I will definitely leave a review. As a TV producer audio is very important to me - I was very underwhelmed by the Dockin D Cube pair I had.

Still think I might be leaning Motion+ but still not :100:%

I’ll recommend the Flare+ for the LED lights alone. Great sound and at night it can light up your party

I prefer the flare because of surround 360 degree audio. Its something to be said about being able to hear sound as if you didnt know where it was coming from.

Buy both the MOTION+ and the FLARE+.
So you are not 100% you are 120% on the best side!:grinning:

I think that the motion+ would be a great buy I would like to get one myself, and as far as the soundcore mini I would get the 2, it has better bass, is clearer to me and has 6 watts but the original mini only has 5 watts. The mini 2 also has water proofing on it’s side.

Thanks for the advice. That’s interesting about the Mini 2 as so many reviews suggested it wasn’t as good sounding as the Mini 1, which I thought was strange. Why would the new one sound worse than the old…!?! Sounds like those reviews were wrong! If the Mini 2 sounds better that’s great to know!

In terms of the Motion+ I like the way it’s similar to the old “Premium Bluetooth” speaker. I’ve not got any experience of 360 speakers so not sure that the Flare+ would sound like. It’s a shame you can’t go into a store and try all the Anker speakers out…!

I don’t know about the flare+, but I have two soundcore flares and they are awesome. They are tough, sound great with suprising bass, and the battery life lasts forever
