More problems for Apple

Apple just got over their whole butterfly issues with their key boards and now are facing a new issue with the flexible ribbon cable that is creating a spotlight affect at the bottom of screens.

Any thoughts on Apple vs Android? Are Apple products worth all of their money and problems?

I’ve honestly never known Apple to have so many issues with hardware and various bits and bobs in such a short amount of time.

I dunno if they are cutting corners in production or what’s happening but something definitely isn’t right.

Thankfully I haven’t had any problems but my iPhone 7 and MacBook Pro are older models compared to the new generation that is plagued with issues.

They also had the software issue with their core i9 processor over heating

Honestly, apples phones are made to last a year or a two. Their battery’s are awful and they’re just a waste of money.

Ooo that was another apple issue with the batteries that were made to slowdown o force you to upgrade. The new iPad pro also has structural issues on the sides where it can easily snap in half.

I’m Android all the way. Especially Samsung phones. Love my Galaxy S9+. I’ll probably try to get their S10 once it comes out

I don’t know what issues are you talking about the batteries. Please educate us.
I guess the phone processor throttling is nothing to do with battery being bad. It is an inherent nature of li-ion batteries to lose capacity and increase its internal resistance overtime. It is the software issue that is causing the phones to slow down because the battery is not able to provide enough power (due to reduction in capacity and high internal resistance it acquired over time).
I’ve seen/made/worked/tested plenty of li-ions in past 15 or so years of my professional career as a battery scientist and I can assure you that Apple uses some of the best li-ion cells, batteries in their devices. As with any product, from time to time you will find a small batch of defective product (battery) and they are very good to take care of the customer for any defective or even not defective battery.

It was a huge thing last year about Apple intentionally slowing down old phone I forget exactly how they did it but through some feature it happened faster than it should. Because of this issue Apple offered replacement batteries which is part of the reason why their sales were down this year because instead of being forced to buy new phones people just replaced the batteries in their older phone. This was on top of the whole trade issues with China and losing some of there sales over there.

I disagree that the phones are made to last a year or two as I have a 4S and a 5S which are 6 and 4 years old respectively and both still function and operate as they should.

Granted they aren’t as fast as they used to be but that’s to be expected when the li-ion batteries get older with use.

Yes I agree batteries do naturally slow down over time but this was one of the big things with Apple on top of the butterfly key issues.

For some reason, any issues with Apple products (even minor ones) are blown way out of proportion. It’s not like other devices that cost just as much or more don’t suffer from similar or worse issues…

@joshuad11 like the display issues with the Pixel, the exploding Samsung batteries etc etc

I was scared for the exploding Samsung batteries

I agree with you. I’ve had my iPhone 6s since it came out and it’s still working like it should. Yes, it’s slowed down a bit but that’s because it’s old. I recently upgraded my late 2012 iMac, so yeah, it served me that long. Only reason I upgraded was because I wanted a newer and more powerful system. But regardless of the Mac vs PC debate, I must say that I am always blown away by Apple Support. Whenever I’ve contacted them about an issue or question I had with my iPhone, iPad, iMac, or whatever…they have always helped me, even when my devices are out of warranty. Try doing that at Best Buy or other retailers. And yes, with new products that comes out, there may be defective ones. But those instances, should not mar the company as a whole, especially when they are willing to deal with it.

Again, I totally agree with you. It seems that people are quick to judge but no one ever likes to be judged. Perhaps people feel that when they pay a premium price for a product, they should have the right to tell the company what and how to do things? Anyway, all companies have problems at one time or another with their products. It’s a matter of, if they are willing to meet it head on or sweep it under the rug.

Samsung made 1 just one phone, that had a bad battery. Yes it was a major issue, but apple have had just as bad issues, and a lot more than one!

Aside that.

If you want an easy to use phone, that dictates to you everything… What you can do, what you can download, what music player, what app source, etc etc, then go apple (:sheep: baaah (it’s a joke!))

If you want a fone, that uses 2019 technology, lets you do anything, however you want to do it. Then it’s android.

Only downside to android, and it’s been the case since the beginning of time… Android are slow at releasing software. But (and it’s a big BUT) there are less issues after the software has been released on Android, but apple do (to be fair) release updates v quickly and when they make an error, they are fairly quick to send out another update to correct quite quickly too.

As for taking photos… Very subjective

For flexibility, it’s definitely android

There are plenty of romours of spyware/malware but you never really see it, but apple have been attacked and vulnerabilities have been exposed, and manipulated.

It’s really your choice, and what you want to do with your phone, and how free you want to be, to do that on your phone.

Apple is known to have lots of issues with hardware and is also known to try to force users to use only official accessories or repairs. Maybe that is part of the reason why? I don’t know, but I hope this gets fixed!

I had an iPhone 4s (purchased in 2012) which suffered from intermittent shutdown in 2016. I was thinking it is battery issue since I had over 800 cycles on it. Went to apple store for a $79 battery replacement (out of warranty). Apple found that it was an hardware issue and not battery. They gave me a brand new iPhone 4S (same model) for free. That phone is over 400 battery cycles now and the battery is still at 94% of original capacity. It runs great since I never updated the iOS (still at iOS 6). Most of the performance issues arise due to newer OS requiring more out of your old phone’s hardware and what suffers the most is the battery to provide all the extra power for more demanding OS.

Well, apple has a very good connection to their customers. What I mean: if you like apple, you always buy apple products. And do not care about the price.
For me the price is too high - the relation price / quality has an overweight on the price side.
