Lockdown - First Open Source Firewall App for iOS

Lockdown. The new free app is what the developer says is the first open source firewall and works completely on device to block apps from crypto mining, sharing data with Facebook, and can block custom domains as well.

It’s free and available on Appstore. Lot of privacy focussed users may be interested.

If I had an apple device I would be interested in that.

You should have an Apple device :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:.

Interesting find @Shenoy- I’ll look into it

Used it for sometime Now, Also acts as a adblock app, blocks pretty well, early days but promising.

I prefer android, I can modify what the device is capable of more than I could with an apple device.

iOS and Android are both great platforms with lot of options, matter of choice. Once you are used to one platform, difficult or hard to give it up ( not impossible  , keeping my mind open)

I completely agree, I’m not saying one is right and the other is wrong. I’m just saying its not right for me. It works great for others, just not me.

Lockdown seems to work well… it blocked the annoying full page ads in my local news app!

It seems to only block online ads for me- not in app ads.

Edit: actually it just doesn’t block pop up ads.

more features will be added in future - heard from the developers,

hope community members will benefit from this app, there are other options for Adblockers (in-app and safari) Apple iOS Appstore which are “paid” options,

Lockdown is free and open-source, creates a VPN profile with the iphone / iOS device as a VPN server and then blocks the blocklist configured, blocks in-app and safari - phonewide blocking from my testing so far.
