Issues while Charging Gaming Laptop with Anker PowerCore+ 10050

Greetings Forum Members,

I am writing to seek your valuable suggestions and assistance regarding an issue that I have been facing while charging my gaming laptop [https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/d/gaming-laptops] with the Anker PowerCore+ 10050.

Recently, I purchased this power bank with the intention of using it as a backup power source for my laptop, especially during travel. However, I have noticed that my laptop’s battery does not charge properly when connected to this power bank. Instead, it shows the charging sign, but the battery level does not increase, or it increases very slowly.

I have checked the compatibility of the power bank with my laptop, and it seems to be compatible. Also, I have tried using different charging cables, but the issue persists. I have also contacted Anker support, and they suggested trying to reset the power bank by pressing the power button for 7 seconds, but that didn’t resolve the issue.

I suspect that the issue could be due to the power bank’s output voltage, which might not be sufficient to charge my laptop’s battery. However, I am not entirely sure about this, and I seek your expertise and advice to help me resolve this issue.

To give you a better understanding of my laptop’s specifications, it is a gaming laptop with an Intel Core i7 processor, NVIDIA GTX graphics card, 16GB RAM, and a 15.6-inch display.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or solutions that you may have to resolve this issue. Please feel free to share your thoughts and experiences.

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

Best regards,
Judy

Hello Judy, the power bank you are trying to charge you laptop with uses quick charge 2.0 what you need is power delivery or PD. My laptop limits charging to 65 Watts when using the type c port yours might be different google the model number to find the maximum input watts on the type c port for your laptop.

If you want to game in full gaming mode you’ll need a PPS/portable power station Anker has a new line of portable power stations that will give you the power you need recharge from solar car and wall outlet and come with a 5year warranty. If you go the PPS route you’ll need to check the wattage on your laptop wall adapter and purchase accordingly.

If you just want to be able to recharge and use your laptop in non gamer mode go with a powerbank but considering you’ll only get one or two charges and no gaming mode a PPS is a better deal imo.
