Anyway, does anyone have an idea of a good product that is similar to that? I need an ethernet input on my laptop and then I’m going to need more USB inputs. I don’t need a fancy SD card and all that, just some extra USB and ethernet. Got any suggestions??
Is this a real Anker product? Plus much needed suggestions
That is a legitimate anker product. It looks different because it is older, and used the older anker style.
Thanks but do you recommend it? Any others? It is like the perfect setup but the tech looks old.
Unusual your lappy doesn’t have an ethernet socket.
Is this a Windows or Mac? Cos Anker just done a new one for Mac
Given your stated needs, you’re not going to get anything better in technology, just appearance.
This for example is newer but a couple of $ more
Yea I think right now I’m going to hold off. I’m realising that it’s going to take more work than just that adapter to get a wired connection (I usually work on my laptop in my room and the router is downstairs, right under me) and I can not run an Ethernet cord, no matter the length. Also, all of this hassle is really just for online gaming, one game in particular, so I’m going to hold off for now until something changes. Thanks though guys!
Consider Powerline if you’re struggling needing wired and can’t get Ethernet cable there.
A Powerline starter kit, is a pair, one is near your router, connects to it via Ethernet, one near your laptop also connected via Ethernet, and the two Powerline items communicate over your electrical wire, effectively carrying the Ethernet protocol via your electrical wiring.
Could you tell me what a powerline is or direct me to a site? Thanks!
Below is an illustrative example, not a recommendation
You need 2 units typically called a starter kit, these then use the existing wiring instead of a long ethernet cable, you’d need two short ethernet cables typically included ina kit and the Anker GigE dongle and you’re connected wired.
Is it sort of like a WiFi repeater with an Ethernet port ? I had one, by TP LINK who I actually like and I didn’t like it.
No not like WiFi repeater, just makes a long Ethernet cable out of your home electrical wiring.
