Iphone wireless chargers - FCC posts

FYI the CES announced iphone optimized wireless chargers now have more info courtesy of FCC.

Usual warnings:

  • FCC does not mean final product
  • FCC does not mean product will actually ship
  • differences between FCC and final shipped product are common. So use these as a guide only.

Anecdotally, on average, from FCC to shipping product is about 6 weeks so we’re probably looking in the region of late February to early March. Usually the initial price is some laughably high price for a few days, then it drops to a more reasonable price. Then the 20%-30% discount happens, and that is then in the mainstream period, so we’re probably talking around April when you’re taking about buying this product in volume.

Super excited for this to be released!

Micro USB… They already had a USB-C wireless charger. Why go backwards?

That was exactly what I thought. I get the feeling that USB C is not really accepted.

At this point in 2018, Anker has put more products to market with MicroB than USB-C.

What year is this? 2014?

Here’s the thing, there are more phones on the market that utilize micro b over micro c, so until it because the defacto of phones made, I dont think we will see an influx of usb c products. Yes there is a demand for it, but it’s not standard and being utilized by all phone manufacturers

I agree why ship products with MicroUSB rather than USB-C

However in this specific case it is low power and its not an item you’d typically consider as portable charger, chances are the bundled cable will be all it needs.

My bigger complaint is in portable items such as BT buds where I am literally only carrying MicroUSB cable because Anker. So Anker is my dinosaur backwards technology, the opposite of what their brand claims. My phone is USB-C, my tablet is USB-C but I carry two MicroB cables for my Anker buds the the non-C Powercore.

Until they make a powerbank which is solely USB-C 1 in and 2 our or something, they will continue to make accessories that are powered by Micro USB. We all have so many chargers and cables and very few USB- C.

I was interested in the name. PowerWave  much better than PowrtPort Wireless and will give these their own identity.

Maybe this type of thing (Naming Products) could be something cool Anker could allow the community to get involved in, in the future. Be a great interactive community thread.

Looking good @AnkerOfficial

the micros it’s perfect for a product like this
surly if was with usb c it will be more expensive.

Yes, the USB-C ports are more expensive. But that has something to do with the market regulation. It would change if every company uses USB-C.

I can’t find a license cost per port, only per Vendor ID license, and as these are just chargers I wonder if they needed a Vendor ID anyway?

Now it’s too soon that every brand adopt the usb c.

I’m currently using 4 standard in my room, usb c - micro usb - usb - lightning. Even if I wanted to change, I can’t.

It is the same for me. I have micro-usb for my SoundBuds and portable charger. For my notebook I’m using a USB-Charger. Ipad is lightning. We will have different types of cables for the rest of our lives.

Still?

Last flagship Samsung device to use Micro USB was released two years ago.
Last flagship LG device to use Micro USB was released in mid 2015.
Last OnePlus device with Micro USB was released in mid 2014.
Most recent HTC flagship without USB-C was released in mid 2015.
Latest Google phone with Micro USB was released in 2013.

Anker already has so many Micro USB devices selling that if people really still want Micro USB, they have plenty of options. They should not continue to develop new products with Micro USB, though.

That being said, I agree with what @nigelhealy said. It’s not the biggest deal on a product like this. More of an issue on power banks, earbuds, etc.

So in that case Anker accounts for all of the Micro USB…

And for iPad you can get USB-C to Lightning if you’d like.

I know but the cable from Apple is too expensive. And the other cables do not have the MfI certification.
