iPhone SE: A powerful new smartphone in a popular design

Devil’s Advocate.

Counter argument:
- why are you buying such an expensive CPU inside a small phone?
- why aren’t you instead spending on a small screen less powerful 1-2 year old design phone and putting a powerful cpu in something more useful, like a larger tablet, laptop?

Edit: I am wrong. I see they put a fair price on it. $399. Is that unlocked with the specs as shown?

Yes, with those specs- with 64gb storage

Charging wise it uses the same technology we’ve seen for the last few years. It includes a 5W USB-A wall charger and regular Lightning cable. But it supports fast charging using an 18W (or higher) USB-C Power Delivery charger and a USB-C to Lightning cable. So any Anker charger offering USB-C Power Delivery will fast charge it. And Anker’s USB-C to Lightning cables are all MFi certified by Apple.

It also supports wireless charging. Again, Anker’s Qi wireless chargers are compatible as they are with other model iPhones. Stick with a 7.5-10W wireless charger for best results.

I’m waiting for someone to release the battery size. That’ll help tell how well it’ll perform through a long day. And how many charges a power bank will offer it.

I’m not a fan of apple but it’s amazing this phone gets the A13 Bionic for $399. Some of the specs could be improved but the chip alone makes up for it

Wow, the iPhone SE actually looks like a decent deal!

Well just buy an SD card in, that’s what we do with Android

Ooops. I have a 32GB Android 8.4" phone with 200GB $20 SD card. I keep forgetting.

A smaller phone is a good idea, complements another device like a 8"-10" tablet or 13"-15" laptop. I think phones of 2015 were about the right size. What happened though was phones got bigger and tablets squeezed then you got a 6"-7" phone which would not really fit in your hand or pocket and not as good as a tablet.

I think a move back to smaller phones is the right idea, so long as a low price and we put $$$ into either tablets or laptops.

Or you pay $1000 for a phone then dock it within a laptop shell.

The specs are impressive at $399 price point. The one and only missing thing is the SD slot, but that is not coming with iPhone I believe.
This might be my next phone
Saving at least $600 and that can buy a reasonable laptop, but I don’t need one anyways.

2015 needs to return.

SD slot.

Replaceable battery.

We then head out for a weekend with an weekend’s of media and the spare battery to last all weekend.

I like the 5.7ā€ size edge to edge display (iPhone X, 11 pro etc.)

I had a Note 4 with a replaceable battery and it was a really useful ā€˜feature’ but now that they are not replaceable anymore and we have waterproofing instead, I think I’d rather stick with a waterproof phone

Agree with:

  • smaller phones, they have been getting way too big for years.
  • lower cost. It is only a phone, there’s better places to spend $ than this. If you’re going to have a small screen then your big screen device needs to have the most of everything (storage, RAM, GPU, pixels).

Just need to add a microSDXC slot and design it to replace battery in 5 minutes with just a torque driver.

An incredible new iPhone highlighting a 4.7-inch Retina HD show, matched with Touch ID for industry-driving security.

That will save some $$ for user but not Apple, so guess they will not do it
