iPhone 8 plus getting really warm while charging

I recently bought an anker powerport atom iii with an anker powerline+ ii usb c to lightning and my phone gets really warm while charging. Does this happen during the “fast charge” part of charging?

When you say really warm, are we talking too hot to touch? From reviews I have read (and based on other chargers) I would expect a certain level of heat being present.

It was actually really warm then when my battery indicated 80% the temp went down. I guess that’s how fast charging works?

Anytime you fast charge a phone there is heat to be expected, but once it reaches a certain threshold charging slows down and the heat generally goes away. It’s ok if its warm, but if it gets too hot to touch then there may be a problem
