Foldable phones in my opinion are such a dumb idea… $2000 worth
Huawei Mate X vs Samsung Fold
Folding phones are a good idea, just not at this price
I believed if you record, unfold, edit(good sofware) upload this will be a great idea. Pen support a must. If you could do all this maybe you could justified a 2000 dlls price. This will be for me the only way I could look at one of this phones.
It’s gonna be too pricey from the start for the tech
Did anyone notice that last year maybe or before Apple patent for fordable display was show. Did you think Samsung got a request from Apple for this kind of display? Now all the sudden Samsung and Huawei got a fold phone. Now everyone will be saying Apple is following Samsung? What you guys think?
@tugar32 Samsung has had a foldable phone since 2012, that’s how long they been perfecting the folding Hinge and mechanism. So no Apple wasn’t the first to patent it and then all of a sudden you see all these phones. Apple is late to the game as usual
Nice review but if I had to choose between those two, I’ll go with Samsung. Besides, I don’t think I could trust Huawei yet
Wise decision, I think that even if there is little public evidence of Huawei hardware spying their corporate practices are shady at best and I couldn’t in good conscious support their shady behavior even if they make great phones.
I could one day change my mind about Huawei as a whole if they strengthen their public trust by cleaning up their corporate practices and prove that there’s is no spy chips built into their phones.
If the Samsung Fold wasn’t so expensive I’d definitely give it a try. But I can’t justify paying basically $2000 for their 1st fold generation. I remember a long time ago Samsung released a phone with a keyboard, I guess it was a matter of time for them to release a foldable phone
I’m just wondering what’s next. I feel there is something great that can be done with this technology I just can’t figure out what it is…
Why consumer needs folding phones?
It basically allows you to have a phone, and a tablet in your pocket. It could be convenient.
I don’t know while I am excited about foldable phones I think Samsung completely missed the mark with the Galaxy fold.
The biggest turn-offs for me are the comically small outer screen and the large notch in the top right corner of the screen when in tablet mode.
Maybe it’s just me but I actually prefer a small bezel on tablets so I have a place to rest my fingers and not block screen which would be more than sufficient to hold the sensors camera ect.
Now phones are another story. I do prefer the bezels on phones to be as small as possible is why I am a fan of the Infiniti O or hole punch displays.
I much prefer the design of the Huawei as I stated in the article. The execution is far superior.
You are right, this is Samsung and they could have done much better. If there is a demand for it and Samsung makes good sales from the Fold, give it a couple years and I guarantee it would be the top foldable phone out there
Because it’s cool and convenient. My phone has become my primary computing device and if I had a tablet in my pocket wherever I went I would rarely ever use my computer again.
Pair that with say a nebula capsule for presentations or a type c battery powered display for desktop work and you have a travel-friendly computer setup.
I’ve been using the Samsung Note series since the Note 3 I held onto the Note 3 for a few years then gratulated to the Note 8 and then note 9. I’ll be moving to the Note 10 when it is released looking forward to the in screen fingerprint reader and I’m assuming that it will also have wireless charging abilities like the S10 plus. While it is a feature that I probably will not use very often it will be convenient to have in case a buddy needs a quick boost or for when Anker inevitably releases wirelessly charged headphones.
That was quite a jump from the note 3 to the note 8. I had the note 2, the 4 and 8. The note 4 was probably my favorite. Wireless powershare would be a cool feature to show off and yes, it will come in handy every once in a while. Better have it and not need it, than need it and not having it
I don’t think that feature would be as useful for charging other phones, as it would be for charging Qi enabled earbuds.
