Huawei Mate X vs Samsung Fold

I’m just wondering what’s next. I feel there is something great that can be done with this technology I just can’t figure out what it is…

Why consumer needs folding phones?

It basically allows you to have a phone, and a tablet in your pocket. It could be convenient.

I don’t know while I am excited about foldable phones I think Samsung completely missed the mark with the Galaxy fold.

The biggest turn-offs for me are the comically small outer screen and the large notch in the top right corner of the screen when in tablet mode.

Maybe it’s just me but I actually prefer a small bezel on tablets so I have a place to rest my fingers and not block screen which would be more than sufficient to hold the sensors camera ect.

Now phones are another story. I do prefer the bezels on phones to be as small as possible is why I am a fan of the Infiniti O or hole punch displays.

I much prefer the design of the Huawei as I stated in the article. The execution is far superior.

You are right, this is Samsung and they could have done much better. If there is a demand for it and Samsung makes good sales from the Fold, give it a couple years and I guarantee it would be the top foldable phone out there

Because it’s cool and convenient. My phone has become my primary computing device and if I had a tablet in my pocket wherever I went I would rarely ever use my computer again.

Pair that with say a nebula capsule for presentations or a type c battery powered display for desktop work and you have a travel-friendly computer setup.

What phone are you rocking? @TheDude

I’ve been using the Samsung Note series since the Note 3 I held onto the Note 3 for a few years then gratulated to the Note 8 and then note 9. I’ll be moving to the Note 10 when it is released looking forward to the in screen fingerprint reader and I’m assuming that it will also have wireless charging abilities like the S10 plus. While it is a feature that I probably will not use very often it will be convenient to have in case a buddy needs a quick boost or for when Anker inevitably releases wirelessly charged headphones.

That was quite a jump from the note 3 to the note 8. I had the note 2, the 4 and 8. The note 4 was probably my favorite. Wireless powershare would be a cool feature to show off and yes, it will come in handy every once in a while. Better have it and not need it, than need it and not having it

I don’t think that feature would be as useful for charging other phones, as it would be for charging Qi enabled earbuds.

But a big pocket would prefer a bigger battery than a bigger screen.

If its too big for a pocket, then you have a bag, and you can carry an even better tablet than a folding phone.

I think these technologies need to get into hands and let real life give real experience, until then every word written is mostly worthless.

This is true, although I don’t think it’s quite “useless”. Just mostly useless

And so you accumulated some more bucks…

Yea the fact that you can recharge your Qi enable wireless charging earbuds from just your phone is quite awesome!

Wasn’t as big of a leap as you might think, I had upgraded the Note 3 to 7.1

I do miss the replaceable battery though instant recharge and the ability to easily replace a battery that has suffered battery degradation.

I guess I’ll just have to keep upgrading regularly.:upside_down_face::slight_smile:

That’s okay I don’t think my little brother who gets all my hand-me-downs minds.

Just stop. I miss one word an I get accused of point farming. Just stop.

Oh please, ever since they announced tshirts for level 7 and up you have been set on farming points. Steady keeping track of where you stand for points and how many more you need to get to level 7. Go ahead and deny it when you blatantly posted about it in the level up thread

Man you just reminded me of the one phone who ‘got away’ or should I call it the blow up phone? I’m talking about the note 7. I only had it for a few weeks but man I loved that phone :sob:
Replacing batteries was great, I remember on my old note 4 I had a zerolemon battery, it made the phone thicker but it lasted me like 2 days with HEAVY use and it still had some juice left.
One feature I really wish they would bring back is the IR blaster!!

So here’s what I’ve decided about this community. Basically everyone level 9 and up (franz as the exception) makes this place thoroughly unpleasant to be on. Everyone else is fine, just the higher level people. All those points must be getting to your heads…
