Ok so this has been happening for a while now seem to having some real problems with anker cables lately honesty I wouldn’t buy one again
But my anker powerline 2 on my iPhone says there is liquid when there’s none I know this becuase I used a different cable to charge my phone and it was fine
Any help!?!?!
@AnkerOfficial
Help my anker poweline cable says there is liquid detected when’s there is none
The Iphone tells you there is liquid?
Strange, I have never heard of such a notification?
Apple!
(May be there is liquid inside the phone or somewhere else )
But definitely not on or in that cable!
Is the charge port free from debris or any kind and have you tried a hard reset of the iPhone to clear any cached iOS related stuff?
It’s not the cable telling you there is liquid detected, it’s your phone. If the port has moisture or even debris inside it can cause this notification. But it has nothing to do with the cable itself unless you physically have water on the plug when you plug it in
I had a similiar problem with a samsung galaxy a, the OS said : “USB port humidity detected”, in the end it was a device issue and i needed to change the phone connector (for free cause warranty), but system notified me this error wich every cable, I suggest you to use the anker cable on another recent phone (doesnt matter if iOS or Android) to check definitelly is there is a problem with the cable ort not.
Yes it is
I am going to jump in with everyone else here, a cable is unable to tell you about moisture. The device is most likely doing something weird when paired with the cable. Just curious, the other cable you used, was a apple brand or some other brand, and did you used the exact same charger? To really isolate problems you need to be as similar as possible in order to ensure you do not misdiagnose.
Yeah is Apple branded cable
Do you happen to have another cable that is not apple branded? The issue you have here still is one is a “certified” device and the other is an “oem” branded device. If you can get another brand to work I would lean towards a cable malfunction, but if it still wont work it would point more towards your phone.
I have been using Anker Powerline cables over a year now, no issues so far and they are intact just like brand new. Apple OEM cables on the otherhand tend to deteriorate over time.
In your case, you are just inserting a connector into the phones charging port. If you can wipe off and clean the connector end to ensure no moisture present, you should be fine. I would inspect the phones charging port as well, just to be sure.
Liquid cooled cables there’s a novel idea
Update now binned the cable
??? What do you mean binned the cable?
Try using a wooden toothpick to clean out any lint/fuzzies in the iPhone’s charging port. I have to do this from time-to-time when I have odd charging issues.
Note I don’t really recommend doing that as a first measure since its very easy to bend pins inside the phone in which case you are then totally royally screwed.
Lint in the phone basically is an ever escalating process of jamming lint in from our pockets, then cramming it in further by plugging in a lighting port, rinse and repeat. First its just ‘oh i jus tneed to jiggle it to charge’ to ‘I need to force this thing in with all the might in the universe to make a contact’. basically every time you charge it, you’re just cramming moe lint down the port making it worse.
I normally rcommend a regiment of increasing ‘danger’
- TURN OFF YOUR PHONE. As what you do next could be a problem if it’s on.
- Use compressed air into the port. As long as you dont invert the can and spray cold water into the port its fine. which is also why you should turn off your phone.
- Now assuming you are some kind of lint collector and the stuff is like really jammed in there, the next step is to use brush to get in there. A used but dry toothbrush is a good start. Though you do generally need something a bit stiff bristled to get in there effectively which unless you’re an artist or something isnt normally something people have. As an apple tech in a previous lief, I have seen people jam entire teddy bears worth of lint in a lighting port
- Ok now that you’ve done all the ‘relatively safe’ stuff to we then upgrade to ‘jaming stuff in the port’. The key thing here is to be careful because if you bend any pins you are totally screwed. Toothpicks are ‘ok’ but you have to be carful of the width of the toothpick. If its too wide you’ll bend the pins. Alternatively paperclips tend to come in different sizes so its easier to find one thats the right size, however again, since its metal, bending the internral pins is a big thing so agian be careful.
- Note that you are not DIGGING FOR GOLD. The stiff tools are to loosen the debris not a shovel. Poke around gently, then go back to compressed air to blow the debris out. Repeat as necessary
- I would look inside the port with a flashlight to see whta’s up. I’ve also seen people somehow jam staples in there (though thtat tends to happen more on the magsafe ports). I fyou look inside and see green/blue gunk? thats corrosion and you are probalby in bad trouble. You can ‘try’ to clean it off but again that generally risks bending the pins which is arugably worse.
