Same is with Portuguese (Portugal) and Portuguese (Brasil).
Grey or gray
The spelling doesn’t matter so much to me, but really it depends on what context it is being used that would dictate the spelling.
As others have stated, grey is the European spelling, and gray is the US spelling. The same goes for color and colour.

For me it’s grey but I hate the difference between UK and AE English. I spent one in the US and now I have to use the BE which is confusing. I mean all these word where you use ou instead of just o. But it’s English class so I will get through it.

I’m confused as hell reading your post.
UK English, is the correct English, and the one that’s used by business internationally. However, a lot of lazy and USA English (also referred to as Americanisms… Where the American version or speech style is used) are breaking into UK English.
This is mainly due to 2 factors… Music and film/TV, all great sources of American styles of speech and spelling. It’s mainly millennials and younger generations that are doing this/influenced by it.
I’m not adverse to modernisation of the English language, but I do get annoyed at UK kids pretending to be American, and esp a certain sector, talking/walking like they’re American gangsters! I find it soo funny when I see a kid from a well to do area, dressing (jeans down past arse) like an American prisoner, and talking like they’re jz!

First of all I’m a German student, but I spent one year in the US.
The problem I was referring to is that we learn both writings in German schools. Now, when we write a text it depends on the audience if we have to use BE or AE and this is the biggest problem for me as a student who prefers AE.
About the pretending to be thing. You don’t have to tell me it’s really annoying when people replace every 2nd word with an English one.
We are using “denglish” in Germany here, though the majority is not able to speak and write German perfectly.
