I recently bought a GoPro 3+ Black edition for when I drive for Uber and Lyft. I work at night a lot and having a camera for the odd-ball passenger or that funny story that no one will believe unless you show them the video then is a must. I tested a factory GoPro 3 battery and the Anker battery back to back. All the same camera settings and at the same temps. And guess what? The Anker battery died 2.5 mins before the factory battery did. In terms of capacity, they are almost exactly the same. but were the Anker battery shines is the price. Amazon has the Anker battery for right around $8. The factory GoPro is around $20. To me, this is a no-brainer. I have also done a power drain test as well of 3 months. A battery just sitting has an internal resistance that drains the battery slowly. Without going into a long drawn out class on batteries just take my word for it. each battery was voltage tested and load tested after the 3-month point. And guess what. each battery was spot on to each other. So once more it comes down to the price tag. If they both last just as long off a charger or out of your bag the wallet is where I do my thinking then. Hope this helps you GoPro user out there.
