EufyCam Magentic Mount won't support camera

Just bought a 4-camera set, but the magnetic mount is not strong enough to support the weight of the camera when attached to a thick, flat, steel verandah post. The camera on its own will stick to the post, but then it is only aimed horizontally, which defeats the purpose of the half-spherical mount. Have lodged customer support query, waiting to here back at this stage, but disappointing that promoted feature of easy mounting on metal surfaces is not working.

Hmmmm, you are absolutely correct, if a promoted feature is not working then I really hope Anker can help you. I have an Arlo camera and the magnetic camera and half-sphere mount work great. I’m sure Anker will send you some new half-spheres mounts.

The magnetic mount “without drilling” (as claimed) is of limited usefulness as the camera mounts perpendicularly to the metal surface, meaning, for most practical purposes, the camera is horizontal only.
The half-sphere mounts work as intended, but must be screw fixed to the mounting surface. These are described for internal use. The exterior mounts have 2 fixing screws.
The product description should be clarified to reflect the reality that the mounting options are severely limited when using the magnetic mount built into the cameras. You can’t simply stick the camera to a steel surface and then adjust the viewing angle to optimise the field of view.
Despite having steel verandah posts at my house, the magnetic mounting direct to the steel posts is useless, in practice. For now, I have used the supplied “exterior” mounts screwed to temporary pieces of wood, which I have clamped to various mounting surfaces to verify mounting locations before drilling holes for permanent fixing.

Personally I would be concerned with using magnetic mounts outside as the conditions are unpredictable and wind could easily knock it off the mount onto the ground or it could easily be plucked off the mount and stolen.

I’m surprised. I have the mag mount on both outside cameras and they hold amazingly well. Had very very strong winds the other day and they held without any issue.
