Hello
I have 3 battery powered doorbells. One is at a different location and is connected to a permanent power supply.
The following issue occurs when connected to the local network and to a cellular network.
The home base is wired to the local network. When someone activates the doorbell, the notification appears quite swift on my mobile device (iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 8+ both running the latests iOS and App updates)
When the notification is opened, the app connects to the home base and shows the video and audio stream from the doorbell. When the microphone is activated on the smartphone in order to talk to the person in front of the door. The stream disconnects and I have to wait. This can take quite a few seconds (10+ ).
This problem occurs on both locations having different kinds of networking hardware and different smartphones.
This problem also occurs using a Samsung Android smartphone. So it doesn’t make any difference which type of smartphone (iOS or Android) or which type of network (WIFI or 4G) or even if the doorbell is connected to a power supply. This problem always occurs when answering a call from the doorbell. I even have switched homebases to identify the cause. The problem is persistent.
When I bought the doorbells it worked flawlessly. At some point a software update screwed things up.
I also have two wireless cameras connected to the homebase which do not exhibit this disconnecting behavior. So at the moment the doorbells are quite useless cause the person at the door has left before I’m able to speak to them.
Another issue is that a firmware update froze one of the cameras. Which is quite inconvenient if this happens in de middle of the night when I’m at a different location. The whole point of using these security surveillance cameras is to monitor the area from a different location. If a firmware update screws up, the thing becomes pointless. So please disable automatic firmware updates.
Thank you.
Eduard.
