Does Trickle-Charging Mode limit power draw

I am looking to power a soldering iron through PD. It will pull up to 60w when in use but next to nothing idle. With my power banks I am using they keep shutting off when the iron is idle. It would be nice if I did not have to restart the power bank every time I set it down for a few seconds.

I know Trickle-Charging Mode allows the power bank to stay on for a certain amount of time under whatever low current threshold is set, but does it limit how high it can go, or does going over a certain amperage disable the trickle-charging mode?

No.

Trickle charge mode does not limit the maximum draw.

It only lowers the minimum draw to a lower threshold so smaller devices who enter trickle charge mode, and certain phones who turn on / off / on / their power , so the power keeps going.

Trickle charge mode is a fallback for such few devices, in general not needed. Trickle charge mode still turns off power eventually, if no power needs, just later than default mode.

Thank you very much, that is what I was hoping to hear.

If possible, would you be able to mark this one as solved by @professor response?

I think you can with the three dots in lower right :slightly_smiling_face:

I tried to mark as solved, but when I clicked on the three dots the only thing extra that showed “delete this post” on mine and “bookmark this post” and “privately flag this post…” on the rest.

I assume I am doing something wrong or overlooking something simple.

Hey @TheSnarkyOne @ch5richards
The reason for not being able to mark as solved is this in the General category, not Q&A!

Sounds like we need a community upgrade to better hint when new threads are created. Let’s see what Monday brings. It isn’t a new member’s fault, they just want to get information. The hint section you get on a full browser is not on mobile version and there’s nil suggestion to category base on heuristics. Moderators do move from Q&A to general to stop point farming, but not the other way.

I am so sorry for steering you in the wrong direction. I had incorrectly assumed that solved function was for all topics.

I understand as to why it isn’t, so sorry I didn’t think of that before hand.

Thanks @paulstevenewing for helping me out with this.

Moderator can change to Q&A then…

I only commented as i did made a similar comment to yours a while back.

Waiting with baited breath @professor!

Depends on the topic content and answers

Based on past experience…some bugs will be fixed but replaced by new ones (depending on features introduced)
