I’d like a battery I can use to charge by Dell XPS or my phone, but so far can only find the Dell battery for the XPS at an absurd price. Any chance you guys might put something together?
Dell XPS/USB battery?
I think any USB C powerbank should be able to help replenish the battery on your Dell. Not sure how fast though.
Which Dell XPS?
I’m seeing two Dell XPS, a 13 and a 15, and both are AC power input so you CANNOT charge with any USB anything. You’d need an inverter such as in Anker the $500 powerbank.
Do what I did, buy a tablet with USB-C input and then use Anker USB batteries which are in the $20-$50 range depending on size/speed. I travel with the tablet and extend its internal battery life with external USB which I recharge overnight. Usually just a 10Ah is enough.
Okay. I did some research, I’m wrong.
Okay so the Dell requires a ~19.5V at ~2.5A USB-C charger. I don’t think there is any power bank that is capable of providing that voltage and amperage through pure USB. So basically a USB-C charger designed for a phone (lower power requirements) will NOT charge your laptop, but a charger designed for the laptop USB-C will be able to charge your laptop and your phone. So no, most battery packs top off at 12V or so with Quick Charge and what not. You’d need one that can manage up to 20V.
Hi @John_Dahl,
I also have an XPS13 and have made this request. Anker does not currently have any USB-c power packs or wall adapters able to supply the required amps for power delivery to the XPS13.
I’m hopeful that will change, but time will tell.
